Elastic width for diaper making?

What do you ladies recommend for elastic width in diapers (waist and legs)? I just ripped open one of my BG 2.0, and needless to say, I was a little disappointed to find thin elastic inside (1/8" on the waist, 3/16" on the legs. I'd like to save these diapers (somehow, the elastic is sewn along the casing stitch in the back, the elastic inside the legs is just tacked on each end) and would like to know what width of elastic to use. Thanks all!

Thanks! I'd really like to save these diapers. They aren't even a year old yet!

I'm replacing the elastic in my BG 1.0's (no thats not a typo, they're still truckin!) with 1/4 inch elastic. I like the thinner elastic, I think it would be more comfortable, but its up to you.

I've been doing this by hand as well. I couldn't get the hang of keeping the elastic taut and fiddling with the machine at the same time. It's sure time consuming though! If you've been doing yours with a machine, would you mind giving me some tips? Sorry for the hijack!

I was just planning on cutting slits into the casing, threading the elastic through, and tacking on both ends by hand. I sure as heck aint gonna unsew the whole darn thing for some elastic!

sorry to butt into your thread, but on the subject of elastic,
is there any certain kind that holds up better than others?

mama poot, when i sew elastic with machine, i use one hand to
guide the fabric and one to stretch the elastic. i think it's a lot
easier if you dont cut the elastic beforehand because then you
have more to hold onto. there's also less waste that way. hope
that makes sense.
