is Georgia (for a girl) popular/ fashionable over there? There was a real spate of Georgias over here around 7 years ago, and I wondered if it was a transatlantic thing or something Brit-specific.

It's getting to more popular around here (southwestern BC, Canada). I know 3 little girls around the age of 5; two Georgia's (age 3 and age 5), one Jorja (age 4).

Here's a fun link, it tracks popularity of baby names over time - I'm not sure if it's specific to the US but I tend to think it is. TONS of fun!!

Looks like Georgia isn't particularly popular but it is on the rise. It is considered a bit of an older name, popularity mostly declining in the 1940's.

I think older names are making a comeback though so it seems consistent with current trends.

Not around here, but we also live less than 3 hours away from the state of Georgia so that could influence things?

I live in Mississippi, which is only two states away from Georgia. People here name their kids Denver. I guess we're far enough away from Colorado for that to be considered groovy

Well, Georgia is the name I have picked out--if I have a girl. I don't know of anyone around here with the name, but I have a feeling it might pick up in popularity. My grandmother's name was Georgia, which is why I am using it.

I know of quite of few new little Georgia's. Many of the mommies that I know of that named their girls Georgia have Grandma's that they named their girls after. We're in NYC and it seems pretty popular.

So it's getting more common, but later? Hmm, that's interesting... (in an obscure and geeky kind of way...)

I have a 21-month-old niece who's a Georgia. Her dad's British, which might have influenced her name. His fave name for a girl was Imogen, which my sister vetoed...
