For me, it was basically the exact same feeling that I had when I was going into labor with ds, except it just never escalated. I started with a lower backache and nausea, contractions that became strong and regular... but that is it. It just stayed there forever. (Ok, not forever but for a week) The contractions never got to the "Call... pant pant... The... groan ... midwife!!!" level and after 5 days they just stopped. While it was happening I never knew which way it was going to go because I assume at any time they could have turned the corner and became full blown labor.

HTH!

: but I don't normally get the nausea. I just get regular contractions- normally 5 minutes apart lasting for close enough a minute- that are strong enough to make me wonder but not strong enough to make me sure that this is it, it's labour, time to boil water. It's frustrating, but generally I've had some good births after pregnancies with lots of prodromal labour.
The annoying thing is that the UK medical establishment doesn't acknowledge the existence of this and finds it very hard to know what to do with someone who has regular ctx and isn't in labour : They'd rather believe I'm in pre-labour and it's going to take off any moment...
