Can I show off what I just made? *Update new shoes post 14!*

I am so excited by how these turned out! They are made from two recycled coats. One was a very ugly leather coat in shades of dark and light green, and one was a canvas barn jacket type of coat that was torn/stained/missing buttons in shades of dark green/brown/stone. They totally went together color-wise, and made the cutest shoes ever!

Here they are:

Tops
Bottoms

They are canvas on the top and heel and the bottoms and lining of the top are both leather. The heel and soles are lined on the inside with the lining of the old canvas coat which was a really cool map pattern on it.

Can't wait to try them on my son in the morning!

Thanks! I tried them on DS this morning, and they fit perfectly! I am so excited!!! I am going to be keeping an eye out for old coats at thrift stores now, to make more fun designs.

I was also racking my brain trying to come up with a gift for a friend's baby who is turning one, and I think a new pair of shoes just might be the thing!

Very cute!
Did you use a pattern or make them by some shoes your babe already had?

I traced a pair that we already had. I think I am going to try to make up a pattern for the next size up without buying that size though. I was able to trace the pattern without even taking the original shoes apart.

Thanks for all of the nice comments mamas!

Amazing job! I'm so impressed by your re-use of the coats.

ETA: What sort of machine do you have? I so want to try sewing up some for the new babe (expected in April) but am afraid my machine isn't heavy-duty enough to sew through leather.

More shoes! I cut the pieces from an embroidered part of the leather jacket and added the strip on top to hide where the elastic attaches. These are all leather and so soft. I think I could easily get addicted to making these.

Especially since each pair takes, maybe an hour each! I am definitely cutting more out tonight once DS goes to bed. Now if only he would get busy getting sleepy....
