Daily Check-In for 1/19

I'm due on Sunday. The baby has been pretty active the past couple days, more so than usual but other than that, nothing new is happening.

My dh starts his vacation Tuesday so I'm not really in a rush to get the baby out before then. I'm feeling at peace that this baby will come when it wants to. Of course, if Tuesday rolls around and I'm not in labor, I'll probably be feeling a lot less of this peace I'm feeling now.

I'm 39 weeks as of today.

Things are still pretty much the same. Just waiting, and trying to work through family issues.

I think I'm going to do something shocking and try to go to sleep now instead of waiting until I'm utterly exhausted at 8:00a. Shocking!

i have spent so much of the last few days on my face with my butt in the air, trying to get baby to roll anterior. my uterus feels bruised today- it really, really hurts in the place where he is settled and appears insistent not to move. so maybe i need to not try so hard today, if only to save myself the pain of pressure there.

we decided to take the weekend as a family, since i'm not really feeling labor-ry, and reconsider having MIL come back monday. dh's big concern is that she be here with enough time for us to get to the hospital (60 minutes away), because my last labor was only 92 minutes start-to-finish, and she lives an hour in the other direction (and it's winter in a snowy part of new england here). but now that the baby is posterior, i know labor will likely be lengthened (significantly), and, well, i just don't feel that same urgency to have his mom here. on the contrary, her being here would make it hard for me to relax about things, in particular, thinking about back labor.

anyway, that's my ramble for the day. i'm really interested in hearing how the other mamas are making out. i am certain there are new babes-in-arms for our thread regulars.

Just hanging out here. Not feeling too impatient, but ask me again in 10 minutes. DH reminded me the other day that my u/s at 20 weeks suggested an EDD 8 days later than the original due date of tomorrow. We didn't officially change it, but it reminds me that I could be waiting a while. I'm officially on maternity leave from work as of Monday (I WOHM two days/week), so I'm kind of looking forward to a quiet day or two while DS goes to day care. But it would be OK if Baby came this weekend too.

West coast time here so it is still before 6am for me and I am up because my hips need a little break but oh am I tired. Both kids had a terrible night and are currently in bed with us......I am 40 wks and 1day today and starting to have that feeling that I am going to pregnant forever....it's funny to me that I am already feeling that. I know there are others here who are way father than I and don't feel that yet.....anyways........ I sure do want to have this baby this weekend- we will see.

I am going to go crawl back in to my 18 inches....... next to the ones I love most.......

39 +1 Feeling decent this morning. A bit cranky with my little people, but they are tightly wound this morning with a lot of intense energy. We are headed to the YMCA for a family swim and I am going to try for some laps. Need to keep this body moving even if I just doggie paddle around.

I think I am insane. Dh's 40th birthday is next week and I just invited 15 people over for a potluck. Maybe that will shake this baby loose. Or I may go down as the nuttiest gal on the block.

Hello all! We are all doing very well. After a few days to reflect on everything, I really feel like I had my perfect birth. Painful but perfect. I still am a little bit in shock at how great I feel. My perineum and nipples are a little sore still but other than that I am feeling pretty normal. I am trying to reign myself in from doing too much. Of course, baby Owen is practically perfect in every way!! I am glad to be waking up to nurse instead of waking up to pee!!!

I'm 40 weeks tomorrow and no signs of baby coming anytime soon
DH is supposed to start vacation on Monday but he will talk to his boss today about delaying his time off. I know he's anxious to start his paternity leave, but this baby isn't budging!
My newly-turned 3 yr old is really acting out lately and it has me wanting to pull my hair out. I don't know if it's all the baby stuff or what, but she is just out of control! Last night I caught her under our kitchen table painting her legs in cream cheese- wth? I can't even get under the kitchen table anymore.. probably why that is her chosen spot when she's doing something she knows she shouldn't be. grrr.. All that happened in the minute it took me to go to the bathroom to pee (yet again).. apparently I can't even go to the bathroom alone. Sheesh.
Labor vibes to all the moms still waiting for their little ones and big congrats to those who have their babes in arms already!

Today is my due date!! well one of them anyways. My MW goes by the 21st but my gestation calculator thingy says today is the day. I dont think so, although I am getting a wee bit impatient! My dp says wednessday will be the day and I say the 26th when he has a big event and really needs to be in Salina. The most inconvenient time when I will be really tired or something like that!
Its -3 degrees here so I think we are staying in and doing art projects and watching movies. Its sunny and looks beautiful through the window!

well, after the S&S (im 4cm dilated!) yesterday i thought i might go into labor, but i wasn't too hopeful. i didn't but i was having a ton of contractions last evening and this morning there is lots of mucous plug coming out (still no bloody show!) for the first time in weeks.. so, thats a good sign im feeling a sense of calm and peace about the whole thing now.. ill hold my baby soon.

40 weeks today and no contractions. I saw my midwife yesterday and still haven't dialated past a small 1. Come on baby! It's getting a little tense here with my well intentioned,very ADD, mom asking a million and one questions. My DH and her got into a little tiff in the car on the way home from the midwife and I'm trying my best to stay centered. I sent him off today and am practicing patience with her. I guess patience is what I'll need once the baby's here so I'm using it as a learning experience and trying to stay positive.
That and fielding calls from everyone calling to see if the baby's here ("no we'll call you...")!!!

39w1d - Still here. Really having trouble sleeping. Between my sore hands, sore hips and having to pee every hour sleep has become a lost art. Other than that, everything else is the same. Tons of contractions in the evening and that is about it.

I really feel for you overdue Mamas, it must be so hard.

Im bored!!! I watched a movie earlier since I didnt get much sleep last night and thought I should rest when I have the chance and now Im restless and needing something to do.

Reading about all the fast labors has got me pretty nervous. On one hand I would love to have it over quickly but I dont want to be shocked either. THe waiting is really hard this time. The other pregnancies have been so mellow at the end but this time I feel like a caged animal. At least I dont have a bunch of people calling to see if baby is here. I dont envy anyone that.

i'm so unsure!!.. you would think after 2 babies that i would know.. but it just feels different this time. all day ive been having regular (about every 2 min) strong BHx..they aren't painful, which is why i hesitate to say contractions but they are very tight, sometimes uncomfortably so and i can feel them pushing baby down.. down.. down.. still no bloody show this is more than ive felt before in terms of strength of them and regularity, so maybe, just maybe they will go somewhere tonight (its 6:30 now) and ill have a baby by tomorrow.. eep. i hope so!! if not at least perhaps they are dilating me further and when i do go into labor it will go swiftly!

Can't help but to be, right Mamas? I guess I'll try and truly BELIEVE that my baby is waiting for the PERFECT moment to come in to this world. Not a minute too soon, and not a minute too late. If I trust my baby, if I trust my body, the timing will be perfect.

Not a lot of action on this thread today! Hopefully everyone is resting or out doing something fun!

Well, yesterday was indeed our day! I'll post the short story here---

I had contractions starting around 10AM, and they felt different but didn't hurt. I'd say the more serious ones started around 5PM, the midwives arrived at 7PM, and the much more intense ones (had to start vocalizing) started at 8PM, along with bloody show. DH had it so easy----I wanted no one touching me pretty much the whole time! I ended up outside the tub with my hands on the step going up to the tub and knees on the floor. Transition hit around 10:30PM, and with 3 minutes of pushing she shot out into DH's hands in a few giant splooshes! It was very sudden, and surprised everyone. There was thick meconium, but she was screaming right away, and her lungs cleared right up after she started nursing.

She is a SHE, and was born around 11PM on the 18th of January---8 pounds, a full pound heavier than her brother was. We've had a very mellow day today, and DS is sooooooo much more at ease now that she's on the outside. He just wants to hold her, kiss her, and keeps telling me he's happy I had a baby. Whew!

So how do you time how long labor was? The active part of labor for me was about 3 hours, but maybe I should count the stuff before that, too....?

Hello, Mamas,

Not much going on here...just relaxing. No signs that BabyMac wants to come anytime soon. BabyMac is running out of room, and I am feeling every bit of it. Sore ribs, and a stomach that feels like is has been shoved into the back of my throat.

This is my first, so I have no clue what to expect from my body, and I know each baby and every experience is different. I can't wait for things to unfold. I want to know what it is like to labor and hold a little one in my arms.

Amanda, Every one of my labors and births have been different. Its like the first time all over again! Its cool to see how things unfold!

I'm still hanging out. Spending more and more time on my hands and knees....ugh. This one just hasn't figured out its ideal birthing position yet. I feel like it is trying out every option before settling on one..which is bad because the head is soooo low. This is getting uncomfortable.

On a really positive note, I got to spend all day with DH for my birthday. We went to breakfast, the farmer's market, the library, and then tonight we went out to dinner. I know after I have 3 of 'em it will be awhile before he and I get to spend a day alone.

The kids enjoyed their time with grandma today and I feel good tonight.
Maybe this baby will find the optimal spot in there and decide it's good to come out.
