I did it...I did it!!! I bought two copies of Medications & Mother's Milk. I gave one to our regular pediatrician (there are 8 in the practice, but we see 1 pretty regularly). I also gave a copy to my ob/gyn with a little thank you card (I had a difficult pregnancy and their office was awesome throughout the whole thing). So there's two copies out there.
But I went further...
As most of you know, we've had our challenges with tongue tie, being undiagnosed, misdiagnosed, finally late-diagnosed, and then not "fixed" by medical professionals. Anyhow, I printed out this article http://www.aap.org/breastfeeding/8-27%20Newsletter.pdf on nice heavy paper.
Then I found some skinny 3-ring binders. I bought 9 binders. I printed out 9 copies of the article and put in the binders. The binders had the clear plastic covering so that you can put a piece of paper in the front as a cover. I labeled it Breastfeeding Best for Baby and Mother in large font. Then in smalelr font I put Congenital Tongue-Tie and it's Impact on Breastfeeding. I made it look all official with the AAP logo, etc. also put the authors names. I also made "spine" labels for the binders.
I left 1 for each of the pediatricians in the practice, plus took one to that icky ENT who refused to acknowledge DS's tongue tie.
I was thinking about parents who lose their children in tragic accidents or whose children are abducted and then, because they can't change their own circumstances, the work on changing laws (ie, Jessica's Law). Obviously, our situation isn't that tragic. At least I still have my baby and at least I have access to clean water and am able to prepare formula in a clean environment.
Anyway, it might be too late for us, and I might not be able to change our situation, but maybe I can help someone else.
