Help -- Need root canal

Help. I need a root canal (actuall two probably) and a couple fillings. I just bought dental insurance, but it doesn't kick in until next month and I probably won't be able to get an appointment with my new dentist until the end of next month. What can I do to keep it at bay until I get it done?

use vinegar, try and hold it on the bad teeth as long as possible then spit out, be warned, sharp intense pain when you do it but the relief will last much longer than with the OTC gel stuff.
