shallow latch and teething

I've gotta admit it, mamas. Although I'm sad that DS has been uncomfortable since he started teething 6 weeks ago, I'm DREADING the eruption of the actual teeth!! I keep thinking that he will end up biting me. He has a high palate, tight tongue, and thus a shallow latch. This was quite painful in the beginning for me (even after seeing 3 LCs), but as he grew it got better and these days I nurse without pain.

The issue: Over the last couple of days he's been VERY irritable due to his teething, poor boy. Finally resorted to Tylenol. So, he's been clamping down periodically while nursing, which REALLY HURTS. I'm assuming he's doing this because his gums hurt. Should I worry about his poor latch increasing the odds that he will bite once the teeth are in? Or am I just being paranoid?

What are your experiences with poor latch and teeth?

My son's latch gets horrible during teething, but improves once the teeth actually erupt. Hopefully this will happen for you, too.

No advice, momma...just {{hugs}}
I am struggling with nipple pain during nursing since DD has gotten 2 bottom teeth and now one top tooth poking through. It seems like her bottom gums are all bumpy, so I know that there are more just waiting to start pushing through any day now. Her latch is just lazy now and she sometimes "slurps" the boob up into her mouth instead of opening wide. My right nip is raw. She has also been biting. I don't want to tell you any horror stories to freak you out. Maybe your LO will skip the whole biting thing (even though he's clamping down now). I'm really hoping this phase passes soon!
