Brie

What is everyone's thoughts on Brie. I know it's a little late in the game to worry about food, but there is the bacteria factor, though this brie that DH brought home was made from pasteurized milk, so does that make it safe????
I hope so, cuz I'm craving cheese and it's the only cheese in the house besides the processed American my DD conned him into buying at the market last night. And we have all this great bread and he brought home sweet olive oil tortas ( like crackers).... ugh, I might have to run to the market.... someone justify this for me please, tell me a little bit of brie would be safe for my babe and me!!!!!

If it was made of pasteurized milk, and you have been refrigerating it properly... eat it.

If it was not, or if it's been sitting on the buffet table for who knows how long... skip it.

This isn't just my opinion, this is my midwife and my SIL the nurse talking.

Also, I have eaten a whole hell of a lot of brie in the last six weeks, and this roly poly creature doing handstands seems fine.

i may be wrong, but i believe the concern is the bacteria *could* make you sick, but not your baby directly. same with sushi? i don't know. i ate sushi like a crazy woman with dd.

, thanks you so much ladies for your quick response, I was literally standing next to my computer with brie and knife in hand waiting!!!! I can't get a hold of my MW. You've made my morning!

I have always eaten it but, I make sure I know it's source. I kind of figure it one of those things that if you've had it before then you are porbably ok. stupid theory but... My Midwife has only cautioned me against raw products.

If it's pasteurized, I say go for it! I've had it a few times & some other cheeses...if they're pasteurized, as most store-bought cheeses are, it's fine

I hate to admit, I've had enough for everyone! First with the sweet olive oil crackers, OMG, so very good, and I just had more with Pumpernickel toast and and over easy egg.... where's the drooling icon? If I don't have that one egg in the morning, I can't make it through, and I am getting pretty sick of eggs, so the brie made all the difference, thanks for everyones support!

My understanding is that if it's going to be an issue, it would have been during the first trimester.

I'm glad you ate it.
I love brie, and I've more than had my share this pregnancy.
