Tell me not to worry

I feel kinda dumb posting this, because I don't think it's a big deal, but I am feeling a little wigged out about my baby's size. I have been measuring small this entire pregnancy- by about 4 to 5 cm. I'm in good shape, and eating well. I haven't been doing prenatals except to give other midwifery students the practice a few times. I have been measuring my fundal height on occasion, though. Well, the gap has widened. I'm 34+ weeks, and my fundal height was 27-28 yesterday. I know the baby is growing, and I don't have any feelings that there is something really wrong, but it is slightly disconcerting y/k? I know that I can't have gotten pregnant later than I thought because I took a test right away. So would someone reassure me, please?

Awww, don't worry. I bet your baby has dropped lower in the pelvis. Have you noticed more pressure on your bladder and maybe a litte less lower back pressure?

At my appt last week I measured 37cm and this week I was 34-35 and when the midwife did leopolds on me she felt how low the head is.

So, I am pretty sure this is what you are experiencing also!

very good point! I've always thought that as long as the measurements don't seem to just plateau and no growth is going on then you're doing ok.

I am measuring 30 cm at 38 weeks, and measured similarly through my last pregnancy. Ds was a healthy, happy 38 weeker without a single problem or concern. Neither my doctor or midwife has even batted an eyelash at the discrepancy in my measurements according to my week of pregnancy. I know that my dates are spot on. My midwife says that my baby is just really smashed in there! I guess I should practice my swaddle technique to help her feel at home once she arrives!! Everyone grows at a different rate and everyone's body handles pregnancy differently. I think it would be weirder if there were no exceptions to the rule and every single person developed in exactly the same way at the exact same time. How sci-fi!

I have the opposite problem a big baby

I also have the opposite problem. (Measuring 2-3 cm bigger.) And I also have a baby whose head is EXTREMELY low, and has been for awhile. I think there is a degree of error in fundal height measurement, and/or that your baby might've just been in a weird position.

Also, Applecore, how big are YOU? I always thought a rule of thumb was only useful as long as all the thumbs were the same size

Thanks for the reassurance, everyone. I think I'm suffering from 3rd baby syndrome, because this pregnancy has been so unlike the others. I'm pretty average sized (150 pre-preg.), and I always measured right on with the other two, so I guess I have been reacting to the fact that it's just very different than my previous experiences. But that's okay. I'm just pretty emo right now, and waiting to start bawling over something really stupid. I'm sure my baby is fine, and it might be little, or it might be average. I just need to be open to new experiences, right?
