I going to do it...

So for the last year or so I have been weighing my options on what to do with my passion. Do I just Doula and teach CBE or do I take the route to become a CPM or a CNM? I have thought long and hard about it, but my passion keeps pulling me in! I am going to go to school. I am going to become a CNM! I am really being pulled to this. Here in CO, you have to be a CNM to open a Birth Center. THAT is my ultimate goal! I have a long way to go and am getting enrolled right now to get the prerequisites done with. I think I should be able to start this summer!

I am so excited and so at peace with this decision! I truly believe this is what I am being called to do! Wish me lots of luck, this is going to be hard work!

This is wonderful news!!!! Opening a free standing BC is a fabulous goal! Women need more birthing choices.

I am in a similar position and thinking of midwifery... IL is tough state to work in! Have your read Midwifery Today's "Paths to Becoming a Midwife"? I am just starting it and it's been very enlightening (in a good way .

Good for you!! I just sent in my registration for my Birth Doula classes. I really would like to eventually turn this into a CNM position!!

We should begin a support group.

I am beginning my BSN (clinical) program this week. Even though I was in dem training, and now a dem, I took all prerequisites for the BSN. So, now my new goal is to be a cnm and do homebirth or birth center birth. We shall see how it all works out. I also want to do FNP to provide a different kind of health care.

Can you pm me? I probably know you, but not by your mdc name. We probably need a support group for those of us who are going on this path.

Congratulations!!! I just applied to nursing school and hope to follow a path to midwifery. It seems like a long journey but I am so excited!
