Painting moms-- what's your medium?

I paint just for fun for now, although I'm getting better and with a little more practice might actually be able to sell some of my work.

I use acrylics and watercolor mostly. I have experimented with oils but I find them too messy and difficult.

What do you use? I'd love to get some new ideas.

All kinds of different stuff, really. I put up a bunch of pics in the display thread.

When I painted and when I start painting again, I really enjoy and prefer to paint with gouache and india ink. I love the lines and brightness of gouache- oh and the working consistency of it, which takes some practice to achieve and is the reason I am the only person I've heard of irl who actually enjoys it. In school, being forced to use it was torture for everyone except me- it appeals to my exacting nature (some say anal, but whatever- it's my work ).

I enjoy the flow and versatility of india ink. If I want to let loose and get messy, I use india ink and I use all sorts of implements for applying it to the ground. When I don't, I use my beeeeaaautiful diamond tip technical pens- oooo, they are so gorgeous; they just glide over the surface- so smooth

Of course, because these are my preferred media, I am quite limited with grounds. I like working on archival cotton papers/boards, but everything I paint has to be framed for display and also has to be protected immediately, which is easily accomplished with tracing paper, but it's hard to find ways to store the boards to keep them from warping without taking up loads of space.

Anyway, that's my stuff

I use watercolor and pen and ink.

I'll see if I can find a few of my pictures to post.

OILS!!!

Acrylics hate me.

Oils are smooth, natural. They have a process and a fluidity that I like. Acrylics dry too fast and go on too tacky. Blegh.

I like pen and india ink, as well. I don't usually do much mixed media.

I use canvas for my oils, but I like to get creative with the ink; everything from muslin (which came out GREAT!) to strange natural fiber papers. Papers that make my fingers....well, let's say itch. It's less crude than what I was going to say.

MMMMM......paper.....

Watercolor for me... I'm pretty much a novice painter, but I'm really enjoying watercolor.

I work in mostly watercolor and acrylic. I'd like to explore some oils and inks though.
