I am the same way. My only relief is to take 75mg of zantac before I eat dinner. If it continues later in the evening I will pop another before bed. This stuff workslike a charm! I was so sick of Tums and how they barely worked to relieved my symptoms. I was also waking up burping so much that I actually threw up on several occasions. It is safe during pregnancy, and I have discussed it on here with other Mama's who use it....so,think about giving it a try!

I might pick some up.
I am puking acid sometimes It is almsot more miserible than the hyperemesis I had.
I think the heartburn is the cause of my not being able to sleep.
I keep repeating this WILL be worth it in the end LOL

Keep some almonds by your bed, just a couple will drive away the HB, but you can eat as much as you want and not have calcium deposits on your placenta. I have to say that HB is my biggest complaint right now, my only complaint, but I get it most when I haven't eaten anything for awhile, it sux.

I have the same problem, and I've been drinking a TB or so of raw apple cider vinegar in some water. Not the most tasty, but it really helps my heartburn.

no real advice here, just some sympathy! I have the same thing... the constant burps, sometimes with acid sometimes not. The burning will wake me up out a doze and I have to sit up for a few until it goes away, along with the large amount of saliva. It makes it really hard to take a nap!!
I found it usually appears 1 1/2 hours after eating so I have been trying not to eat for a couple of hours before bed. Of course that means when I get up for my 5th bathroon trip around 5:00 am I am starving!!
good luck I have just been trying to stick it out with the occasional glass of milk or dose of cal/mag. Baby dropped last night and seems to be there still this morning so maybe it will get better... although I am sure she will pop back up sometime today.

Few natural remedies I've heard of are:

Tbsp of Apple cider vinegar in a glass of water

Tbsp of Baking Soda in a glass of water (although I was also told that this could cause worse heartburn as it makes the fluid in your tummy too basic (as in acid/base))

Papaya Enzyme Tablets (what I use)

I was told to avoid TUMs because the calcium in them isn't absorbable and can cause deposits on your placenta. If I have to use something like that I have found that Original Rolaids (the mint kind) work 100X better than tums ever have!

I'm in the same boat so to speak. The natural remedies that everyone suggested used to work, but now they don't even touch this HB. I've started taking a pepcid at night so I can sleep. I would like to just suffer it out, but the acid can do a lot of damage to your esophagus, and it's not worth the scarring and the resulting HB for life.

I agree with you Dea.

This is an extreme case, and not meant to scare. But a woman I know is awaiting a lung transplant right now because the doctors say she aspirated acid from her acid reflux problem into her lungs. I'm sure this particular situation is rare, but I would take care of heartburn as you can. good luck!

Pepcid hasn't been working for me; I think I'll try some Zantac tomorrow. I'm having major issues because I have heartburn all throughout the night and first thing in the morning - when I have to take my thyroid pill. Unfortunately, you can't take an antacid w/in 4 hours of the thyroid pill, (antacid stuff blocks the thyroid med) so most mornings it's a choice between the thyroid med or feeling better.

I felt like this a couple weeks ago. It was the worst thing since being constipated early in pregnancy. It was worst for me at bedtime when I had heartburn so bad I couldn't sleep. Sorry I don't have any advice, just a whole lot of sympathy.

I think the natural remedies are great for mild cases, but mine has always been so severe with pregnancy that zantac is really the only thing that works. I have also always had hairy babies which is of course the old wives tale about heartburn!
