Help!

My c-section scar is opening up. How concerned should I be? I put some Neosporin and a butterfly bandage on it. I don't want to call my OB - I'm afraid he'll tell me it makes me un-eligible for the VBAC I want! I know that that doesn't have anything to do with my uterine scarring but I don't want ANYTHING interfering! What do I do?

Edited to Add: It is a small opening. Like you sometimes cut your finger in the kitchen? Not very deep and not very long.

How long ago was your cesarean birth?

It does sound to me that this is something that you may want to address with a care provider.

Oh yea. My c-section was 17 months ago. I also want to add that the opening is a clean line, not jagged. My husband thinks I just cut myself, but I can't imagine how I would have managed that.

Oh, well, then I think it can wait until your next appt. Maybe you can just mention it offhandedly. Or, treat it yourself, like you are doing. Are you pregnant now?

Not sure yet. Hubby and I DTD two night ago so I'm currently in the 2WW. So for all intents and purposes, I would say no.

So you think it would be safe for me to self-treat unless it got worse?

U know what I think mama.

Well, I'm not a healthcare provider. I can't think of a reason that it would open like that, really, and I don't think it has anything at all to do with your internal (uterine) scar. If it's infected you should see someone, but if you can prevent the infection like you're doing then I would think you were fine. Sorry I'm not more help!

This does not in ANY way, to be clear, have ANY bearing on your ability to VBAC!

I've talked extensively about this with Tika. I know it has nothing to do with my ability to VBAC, but I'm afraid the doc will disqualify because of it. Would that be absolutely impossible for him? Could he dismiss me from the practice? THAT is what I am most worried about.
