I heart consignment shops

My friend just showed me a shop that was new to me. I found the cosleeper thingy for TWELVE dollars. When I was buying it, the owner said "why don't you take this one instead, it's the same price" and whipped out a brand new in the bag version.

It's this one.

My mate and I have a huge thick fluffy faux-down comforter that we love too much to get rid of, but neither are we schlepping down the hall or even out of bed to feed the little dude if it can be helped. The sides of this thing are high enough to keep him from getting trapped, and we're going to tuck the blanket down far enough so we can't pull it all the way up at all.

awesome!

we got the "snuggle nest" version of that for our bed.. we also have the arm's reach cosleeper from someone off craigslist, but DH thinks she'll be too far away in that!

That's awesome mama! Does it have a pad that you can just slide the baby in and out of on? Those things rock if they work for you, I couldn't get my kids to sleep off of me until they were too big for 'em. I honestly didn't mind though Hope you enjoy it! And get to keep the big fluffy comforter.

Huh? What IS it? I get that it's a thing for baby to sleep in, but has anyone got a picture of one interacting with a bed?

Laugh, sorry, Helen

If you click on the picture on the Amazon page to make it bigger, you can see a flap underneath it. That goes under the mattress to secure the whole thing. It basically clips onto your own mattress, but not as a sidecar. The kid's really in your bed with you, no reaching over to anything to fetch him. The sides are all soft except for the part around his face and shoulders - those are rigid.

You can see it attached to the bed if you click on the second little thumbnail under the main product photo.

It's also not possible to roll on him, or for a blanket to wind up over his face. I wasn't worried about the former, but the latter was freaking me out. This was also a husband-convincing thing. My husband sees the logic of not having to get up to fetch a hungry baby, but he was scared of rolling, smothering, and frankly peeing. We've got a pillow top mattress. You just don't clean those. (And a pillow top mattress, even covered with a mattress pad and a snug sheet, is still a little soft - this thing has a firm "mattress" insert that just happens to be waterproof )

I really wanted our boy in bed with us for the "fourth trimester," and this little device means both me and the mate are happy about it. And twelve bucks for brand new is a beautiful thing
