It's a DUDE!!!!!! (UC with teen siblings)

My UC was simultaneously spectacular and mundane. I may have to wait a bit before posting the whole birth story, because a great birth deserves a great story and I want to write something that is polished and professional enough to be posted publicly--with the personally identifiable information removed first, of course.

It was 4 hours from when I was "pretty sure" I was in labour until ds2 was born, pinked up, and nursing. He's had no breathing or latch problems and he looks so BIG for a not-quite-37 weeker. I haven't weighed, measured, or done any "rude" stuff yet, but my guess is well over 7 lbs and quite probably over 8; definitely "cooked" anyway.

ds1 came home right as I hit transition. I thought that dd was in the house and later found out she wasn't. I was in the bathroom, so of course Chris didn't stick his head in. He said he was going right back out again, so somehow i held it together for a normal conversation that ended in "I love you, son."

dd came in 20 minutes before the birth. I called her into the room right as the head was out. She did great supporting his head while the body came out in one push and bringing him up to my chest.

After everything was done and dd was cleaning up and leaving us to our own devices, I was able to switch gears into overprotective-mother-of-an-18-year-old mode again and I remember thinking, "That wasn't so much to ask of her after all. A hospital birth or a medicalized homebirth might have traumatized her, but this was more like letting her watch puppies or kittens being born."

I'm pretty sure I know what ds2's name is, but I can't "officially" say it until his big brother and I discuss it a bit more. Besides, a name just seems like such a cumbersome and unnecessary possession for someone so new and innocent.

He has the exact same colour hair as ds1, but my younger son's is natural and his brother had to buy his at Hot Topic.
