Longies without DPNs?

I want to start on my first knitted longies (I've crocheted some). I don't have any DPNs and have no way to get to town to buy some this week. Plus I'm sort of scared of them

Can I make longies with no DPNs?

Is there a good free pattern that's extra easy? I have circulars in sizes 6-15 (interchangeable set, connectible cables in 12"- 21", so I could make them really long if I wanted to), and some worsted weight yarn.

Oh, except that my size 6s are fixed, I think they're either 29" or 32" (I could go look at the package but I don't feel like it).

You'll need 16" and 12" circular needles in the same size (depending on your yarn & gauge, I usually use 7's with worsted weight yarn). And I don't think you can do newborn size without DPNs, since the leg circumference is too small.

Here's a free pattern, I've never used it, but it looks similar to what I do. For help with the kitchener/grafting go here.

Longies are so fun and satisfying! They are what got me into knitting!

I've done doodlepants- I've said this elsewhere, but I wouldn't recommend them for a first pair of longies, because they're just too basic. The wonder of a paid-for pattern is that someone else has done the tweaking to get them to fit right...

I've made the tiny bird organics longies which use #5 straight needles- no dpns at all. It's a free pattern at www.tinybirdorganics.com

Okay, I just bought the Sheepy Pants pattern. It doesn't require DPNs at all

Now I have to take a very deep breath and just tell myself I can do it.

I'm curious . . . the pattern says it's knit in the round--no seaming so I'm just wondering how you achieve this without dpns or a two circs or a magic loop.

I don't know the pattern, but it probably calls for a 16" circular needle (for the upper part) and a 12" circular needle (for the legs). So, you can use DPNs (or magic loop, or 2 circs), but you don't have to.
