gas?!?

so any UK moms out there, explain the gas in labor thing to me. it's nitrous, right? what do you do, breathe it in at the peak of a ctx? does that help in some way? what happens if it wears off before it's over? I've experienced nitrous plenty while not in labor, and i have to say the thought of it during is a little unapealing. j/c here.

and sorry for the awful spelling, i don't have my tiny spell on this computer.

You start on the gas and air at the begining of the contraction and keep breathing away till you feel you want to stop (near or at the end of the contraction). you don't use it inbetween. I found it great stuff. It does not take the pain away completely but lessens it. it made me feel a little distant from the pain, and as soon as you stop breathing it in, the effects stop. some people feel sick from it. the great thing i found was that i was in control of taking it when i wanted it.
