cow's milk vs goat's milk

Is anyone allergic/sensitive to cow's milk that can tolerate goat's milk?

Some one suggested I try different animal milks to see if they were tolerable (cow's milk is not). I did try raw goat's milk cheese the other day and it did not make me sick. But everything I read on "dairy free" websites says that isn't possible.

Not that I plan on making any animal milk a staple in my diet again, but is it possible that Goat's milk and other animal milks might be safe for me in small amounts?

I don't care what the allergy websites say. For us, cow dairy is bad, goat dairy is good.

goat's milk is safe for us too- while cow's isn't. and i have to say, i am very thankful as we can have goat yogurt and cheese which makes our oh so limited diet easier! it sure is possible so go for it- slowly- if you're not noticing any symptoms.

goat milk works for me even though I'm allergic to cows milk. I had been drinking goats milk for a while when I also had a blood test to test for food allergies which clearly showed an intolerance to cows milk and no reaction to goats milk.

Hi, I say Goat's milk is more easily digestible for humans.

Both goat and cow's milk more easily digestible when raw (unheated)

My son and I both have milk sensitivities/intolerances and can handle pasturized goat's milk or raw milk (cow or goat). Small amounts of cheese are okay, too, for the most part. I mean, if we eat a grilled cheese sandwich twice a week we're fine.

That's new info for me, about the "raw" being easier to digest, so thanks. They told me at Outpost (natural foods store) that under the microscope, the protein molecule in cow's milk is HUGE, while that of goat's milk is much more similar to ours (in breast milk).

Two pedi's told me there was no difference and I'd be wasting my time trying goats' milk. They seem to be wrong though 'cause I can drink small amt.s and son doesn't react like he does to cow's milk.

So far, DS has been able to keep goats milk down fine. We are only 3 days into this though. I am going to look into finding some raw milk, as that seems even better.

I've heard that those with an intolerance to cow milk can sometimes tolerate goat milk but that those with an allergy to cow milk can usually not tolerate goat milk as the proteins are so similar.

You can't see protein molecules under a microscope!

90% of true dairy allergic people are also allergic to goat's. Now if the problem is actually an intolerance or digestive issue, yes, goat's milk is more likely to be tolerated. The proteins are smaller than cow's, but still not nearly as small as the milk proteins in human milk. So goat's milk is easier to digest than cow's, but not nearly as easy as human milk.

I have an actual cow's milk allergy, and I cannot tolerate goat's milk in any form. However, I have never been able to find anything talking about sheep's milk relating to cow's and goat's milk allergies. Most sources say it is very likely to be like goat's and therefor not tolerated, but no research has been done to back this claim. I CAN eat sheep milk cheese, though, and my neighbor had the same experience with her dd. Her dd was truly allergic to cow's milk, could not tolerate goat's, but was ok w/ sheep milk cheese. I would probably try sheep milk cheeses before goat's. Unless of course, the problem is merely digestive, not a true allergy. Then it's not a bad idea to try goat's milk.

My dd was allergic to cow dairy and goat dairy. Sheep dairy, however, she was always fine with. Made life a little easier, but sheep dairy is very hard to find!
