Rhythmic movements

So I occassionally feel this little one making these rhythmic movements. They aren't hiccups, those feel quicker and jerkier. These are a bit faster, but smoother - if that makes sense. I've felt them up high near his feet, and right now they are down lower, closer to his head. I am picturing him sucking his thumb, but I am not feeling that, am I? Anyone else feeling movement like this?

That's your baby, practicing breathing!!!

I watched it on an ultrasound, and now everytime I see my belly do that, I know she's getting those little lungs ready!!!

NOT kidding... first time I saw it and realized what was going on, brought me to tears.

They only do it in little spurts, just like you describe. Gotta be quick and aware to catch 'em in the act! It's great that this is your 1st? And you discovered that. This is my THIRD and the first I ever knew of it. I got the kicks, and got the hiccups, but never before was aware enough to see this or know what I was seeing... even then, I only know because of the u/s and being told what was going on.

I just felt this for the first time with this baby a few days ago too. It was like the leg was moving back and forth, just like a breathing motion, but the leg!

Very cool!

This is my first, so everything is very new to me, but I love feeling all his little bumps and wiggles (except when he bops me in the cervix, that is).
