Do I need the larger breast shields for my pump?

DS2 is EBF'd and I WOH a few half days a week, so I pump a few times a week. I did the same with DS1, and I've always been a bit sore after pumping, but never thought much of it. I guess I just figured that I have sensitive nipples (I do) and that since one breast makes a lot more milk than the other and that's the side that gets used more (by DS and when pumping), it's bound to be more sore.

Now I'm wondering if getting the larger breast shields for my Medela PIS would help. I've just been using the standard ones that came with the pump. I'm a 36H, and if I don't need the bigger ones, who would, yk? It just never occurred to me until now. I guess I'm afraid to shell out the $ if it won't make much difference. Anyone have any experience in this realm? Thanks!

When you pump, do your nipples rub on the inside of the flange? It's not about breast size as much as nipple size. If they rub, you do need the larger ones.

I just bought the larger size, and for two breast shields, it was $8.
