Does anyon have the book Full Moon Feast? Incredible book, btw. On page 264 the author writes that immediately after she gave up coffee, she had a dramatic occurrance of eczema.

Dr. Tom Cowan (herbalist, I think) classifies eczema, allergies & asthma as diseases of adrenal insufficiency. Because all of them repsond so dramatically to cortisone medications and their derivatives, he believes that they are a result of a weak adrenal cortex.
What does everyone think of adrenal fatigue tying into food allergies? I'm hoping that once I heal my adrenals, I can enjoy all of the foods once again that I'm currently reacting to.

I can't wait to see my naturopath next week & hear what he has to say about all of this!

absolutely.

I never made the connection until I started talking to other women online about thyroid and adrenal issues, but I had no allergies until I was an adult, and they steadily got worse as my adrenal fatigue got worse.

Makes sense to me since you treat both with hydrocortisone at times, yk?

Can you say more about how you are attempting to heal your adrenals? I have just started exploring this as a way to heal my allergies and asthma.

I've tried adaptogenic herbs, and I avoid stress as much as possible, but since I've apparently had this for about 20 years, I went with hydrocortisone using the directions on the stoptthethyroidmadness website.

I think it's best if you can find a doctor who treats adrenal fatigue, but I'm in an area where they are hard to come by.

A naturopath can certainly help you with this.

Our HCP says that the next step for my daughter is doing some allergy testing, since she has a few symptoms that are adrenal-related. That wasn't very detailed, but the specifics are way too long and boring for this. Suffice it to say that yes, I think allergies and adrenal health are intertwined (which means I should be better about avoiding the foods I think I have problems with).

My first thought was that avoiding all the foods you're reacting too will give you a big boost in healing your adrenals.

Oh, I know. There just aren't any in my network and most of the ones in my state are on another island. As it is, paying out of pocket there are places where you can order your own tests already. But I am hoping to swing an appointment with a naturopath eventually.

What I wonder, though, is the old chicken/egg question. What came first...which caused what?

I have autoimmune thyroid disease, and I'm sure I have adrenal fatigue, and I just found out I have a severe corn allergy. For myself I have to wonder how far back the corn allergy started? Maybe it was the problem all along? Maybe it was the "ongoing irritant" that led to the adrenal fatigue and the autoimmune disease?

If your adrenals are damaged because of your allergens, then it would seem you would need to avoid the allergens for a lifetime or risk re-damaging the adrenals...?
