My son wears SureSteps also, for walking on the inside on his arch. He got 2 pairs of these shoes for Christmas and they are terrific! Keeping Pace
One pair is the grey and white velcro closure sneaker and that's what he wears every day. It opens nice and wide to fit the brace in & you can peel out layers of the insole to get it the right fit. The other one he got is brown hushpuppy looking shoes with laces. We actually haven't tried those on yet because I like the lace up ones the best.
He's had SS for a year and a half and I've tried a ton of different shoes. You are right, Crocs do not work with them. I also haven't been able to stretch Robeez over them. We tried low top Converse, but found the canvas too hard to keep from bunching up whilr sliding his foot in. We have had luck with wide size sneakers from Payless and a few name brand shoes.
My son's feet grow reallllly slow so he wears out the shoes before he outgrows them.
