Question for those who knit! - Page 2

Been Knitting 3 weeks so far...

I taught myself how to knit off of the lion brand yarn website - they have a free 60 page PDF book you can download. I started with a basic blanket to get my stitches even and the rhythm down, but after about a week of working on it for an hour a day, I knit my first soaker. I have since made several soakers, three blankets, some leg warmers, and now I'm working on a gift for my mother. I started about 3 weeks ago, and I have just hit the needles every day to learn as fast as I could. I think you can learn a lot more about a skill and yourself when you are left to your own devices. I may not be doing it right, but I am as far as I know and everything fits and looks good.

I have yet to buy the yarn specified for a craft - I have bought all closeouts so far, and I have yet to fully follow the directions for a project - I'm a rule breaker, I guess.

Experiment....don't let your neighbor discourage you, and give it a try. You never will know how addictive it can be and how much relaxation time you are missing out on if you don't grab a pair of needles and just start doing it!

I wasted a whole lot of money on knitting books, had four people try to teach me to knit, and spent a couple of very frustrating weeks attempting to learn - and nearly gave up. Then a friend directed me to knittinghelp.com - and I was knitting (in the round, no less!) withing 1/2 hour.

My first project was a kitty pi bed. If I can do it, anyone can! Don't give up!
