Can I use magic loop for this?

If so, where do i learn it?

I am using my new KnitPicks Options set (thank you auntie, for Christmas) to knit a capelet with Noro (thank you DH, for Christmas). the pattern calls for 24" circulars and 16" circulars, but the KnitPicks set doesn't come with 16" cables. So do I frantically order the 16" cables (I have several more inches before I do the final decreasing), or is this a situation where I can use ML?

I want to learn ML, but my brain can't take on learning anything new unless it must at the moment... So is now the time?

Check out knittinghelp.com. Scroll down a bit.

I personally cannot think of a situation that you cannot use magic loop if you wanted. Its terribly easy once you figure it out- the first couple rows are always a bit confusing for me, but once I get going its well worth it. I think knittinghelp is how I learned too.

Knitpicks don't do 16" cables for the interchangeables, I don't think. So you'd either be buying a 16" circ (which would be worth it if you do longies a lot and it's a size 8) or teaching yourself magic loop.

Magic loop is easy. Knitpicks.com actually has a tutorial that's very simple to follow. Pick up a long circ (at least 32 in) and some scrap yarn and just give it a try. Right now! Don't put it off any longer!

Go!

Yep, once you learn how to do it, it's really, really easy. It's recommended to use a 32" for ML, but it's totally possible to do it on 29" - it's just a little snug if you don't have a super-flexible cable like KP offers.

You can use it for EVERYTHING! Except an i-cord.
