So how much do y'all pay for a sewing machine tune up (cleaning, oiling, etc)? I'm just wondering if I'm getting ripped off or not... lol

I think I paid about $60-70 when I had my machine tuned up about a year ago.

I believe the gentleman who travels to the store where I bought my machine charges $50 to do a basic tune up

now, I pay nothing because I have learned to do it myself. the one and only time I took a machine in was about 10 years ago and paid close to 100, the machie was an old 127 singer, straight stitch, all metal machine, at the time I was willing to pay that amount because I wanted to get it working but had no idea how to adjust the tension, he oiled it too.... would I pay that much now? no way! I don't feel like it was a rip off, I feel like it was a learning experience and motivation for me to learn these things myself.

all of my machines are older ones, no computer boards and fancy things like that.

We paid $90, but this area is expensive in general, so it sounds like we didn't do too bad. It just seems like a lot of money considering I bought the machine for around $200 (7 or 8 yrs ago, and on clearance, but still...)

I payed $150 last year, but it wasn't just for a tune-up... the darn thing needed a bunch of parts which are no longer made. It has sentimental value... My dh's sewing machine was just under $80 for a tune-up and one replacement part. (entire bobbin housing thingy, I think)
