When examining the placenta after birth, how often do you guys see infarctions, either one, or many? How about "increased syncytial knots?"
I got my records back from the doctor a few weeks ago, and I finally looked at them yesterday. The pathology report describes my placenta as having "increased syncytial knots, a 1.4 cm infarct, and mild acute inflammation in subchorionic layer."
Now, I am NOT well versed in medical jargon but I did hours of research yesterday and found that in the placentas of pre-eclampsic women, often both of the above factors were present in the placenta after birth. Does this mean that I was, in fact, pre-eclampsic, or are these factors normal onsets of term placentas?
I feel a little silly, and unsure of myself. I SWORE my gut was right and there was nothing wrong at my birth. I swore that all the interventions were unnecessary, and now I see this. Ugh.
Can anyone provide any other information?
