has anyone taken geodon while breastfeeding?

My doc put me on lamictal(for bi-polar) a month or so ago, and I just recently developed a rash, so I stopped taking it yesterday. Today i went back to the doc and he gave me geodon. Pretty much everything I read says not to take it while nursing, but that seems to be what everything says nowadays... So, Im wondering if anyone here has taken geodon while nursing, at what dosage, and have you noticed any reactions in yourself or your baby? All the info on geodon im finding makes it sound like it has more serious side effects than lamictal, and Im kinda freaking about about even taking it(im supposed to start it tonight). Any info/advice/input would be greatly appreciated before I start having panic attacks over this, haha. Thanks a bunch ladies!!

I thought about Geodon when my youngest was a newborn, but my Dr. Hale book says to NOT take it while breastfeeding. I don't remember why and I don't know where my book is, but it's a definite NO. I think he has a website--maybe Google it?

I have not taken while breastfeeding. However I took it during my pregnacy. No ill effects for my daughter. I say that only bc the umbilical cord is a direct to baby like nursing. You may have better luck posting in the breadfeedin forum

Well, that makes me feel a bit better. I asked my doc about it and he said it was fine for women who are pregnant, therefore he sees no problem with prescribing it for nursing moms, since it gets to the baby more in utero then through breastmilk. Thanks for the input!

I came home lastnight and researched the heck out of it(well for as long as my kids let me, lol) and I even found Dr. Hale's website and it said they have no data about geodon and nursing, so he says not to use it. sigh...why can't life be easy? haha. Thanks, though!

Is there any thing else that helps relieve your symptoms and that you feel like would have the least harm on the baby?

Well, I had been taking Lamictal, and I thought it was working out pretty well, but I started getting a rash on both my hands, and that's one of the major side effects of lamotrigine(rash), so the doc took me right off. other than that, I don't have any experience with anything else, so I don't know
