If you saw the breastfeeding symbol in a store window

What would you want to find inside?

Dh would like to put one in his stores' windows and wanted me to ask what other nursing mamas would like to find inside? (When I was nursing, I did it anywhere, so he wanted other ideas )

For example, would you rather have a quiet space off the main traffic flow?

I would simply expect openminded people who didn't care where I nursed inside the establishment.

and maybe a chair.

A water cooler and a rocking chair would be awesome, but just some kind of reasonable place to sit would be lovely. A changing table would be an extra bonus.

This is exactly what I would expect. It would be nice for there to be a comfy chair, water cooler and cups, but not expected.

Yep.

I see the symbol (not the mdc one, but one put out by our govt) all the time, and I don't expect anything different- just warm, welcoming people.

A chair. Sometimes it really stinks to have to sit on a display or something.

It would depend on the store. If it was a store full of infant and young child things for sale, I'd kind of expect somewhere to sit and nurse. If it was a store full of fishing lures or computer supplies, I'd expect people who were ok with me nursing wherever. I wouldn't expect a huge bathroom, a nursing chair, and a changing table. Maybe it's just me.

To me it's just like a sign of solidarity from business owners - like I don't have to fear being thrown out of the store or anything like that.

Good attitudes and maybe a park bench.

Exactly - a firend was telling the story of how she went to have passport pictures taken of her son and she saw the symbol in the window. So, when he was hungry, she just sat and fed him. Afterwards, she commented on the sign and he was like "Oh, that's what it means? My daughter gave it to me and told me to put it up."

I would be more likely to go into any store that had the symbol up, but wouldn't really expect anything different (I expect every store to be welcoming of my nursing ).

I'm not sure what I would expect, because I have very very rarely seen one of those signs (outside of maternity stores). But I think a comfy chair would be fantastic.

Yes, and perhaps a nice rocking chair?

a chair or sofa, and no fluorescent lights directly overhead would be great. just a bit of a quieter spot would feel like a lovely break then too

A comfy chair, a water cooler, maybe a small toy area for older children to play while you nurse. But I guess I'm reaching a bit.

I wouldn't expect anything more than friendly, accepting people but, yeah, a comfy chair in a quiet spot would be a bonus

Openminded people who would defend me if some other customer were to made a rude comment.

Expect: an open mind. Truly appreciate: a quiet, out of the way area with little distraction, as DD is easily distracted while nursing, and we'd both feel more comfortable that way (and NOT close to toilets).
