Big Baby = C-section

Thread Starter
Hi. I have a friend who has been told she will need a C-section if her baby is to big. She would have an ultrasound at 36 weeks to determine this and a c-section would be scheduled if this determines he is to big.

Anyone have info that says a supposed big baby is not a reason to have a C-section that I could print and give her?

Thanks a lot!

I'll bet there are tons of links out there with data that you could print, but for starters have her watch this video. It's amazing!

Glad she has enough time to research it. I didn't, and I fell for their crap.

I think that "The Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth" by Henci Goer may also have some good precise information.

A good route to take would be to point out how completely inaccurate U/s is for determining size and weight, especially in the 3rd tri.

Oh, "big baby" bugs me.

What a bunch of bull!! Especially since ultrasounds can be off by SO MUCH at that point! Mine was off the other way - at 36 weeks they had estimated my second to be between 8 and 9 pounds at term. She was born two weeks late, at on ounce shy of 11 pounds. Off much?

Anyway. Preachin' to the choir, I'm sure!

In searching for a different link than shown above, I cannot believe the garbage I came across.

If she's asked for info, I'd probably send her the Mothering issue featuring this article.
