Fleece as an absorbant material????

I have been searching back posts about making postpartum cloth pads. A lot of the past posts talk about mamas making pads with fleece as an inside layer. Is fleece absorbent enough for this??? If so would regular fleece work? Also would regular fleece work for the top? I really don't want to go buy any more fabric as I have a ton.

Thanks

Fleece isn't absorbant, it is used because it's waterproof. And microfleece is a good wicking material. I'd never use fleece with absorbancy in mind.

Thats what I thought too. But they kept saying fleece inside. Maybe they meant micro but just were not typing it. Some of the threads were really old.

how can you tell the difference in fleece and microfleece?

I use fleece as an absorbant layer. It's not poly fleece, though - it's a hemp/cotton blend fleece. There are many different fleeces available. Think sweatshirts and you'll be able to picture the fleece I use as an absorbant layer.

I also use a synthetic micro fleece as a moisture barrier. That wouldn't be absorbant.
