Well, I just responded to another thread about how I haven't painted or sculpted in 5 years, so I'll have to write about what I will paint when I have the time.

I have two sets of thumbnails for two different series of paintings- one is a set of abstracted images of imaginary galaxies with some odd inclusions- fantastical animals and plant-life, and the second is a set of images of my memories of my two c-sections and they are pretty intense images- dh had a hard time with them, not because they are gory or anything like that, but they convey some very hard concepts and evoke some thoughts that are difficult for him to cope with. Anyway, they are from the activist part of me and the galaxies are from the hopeful dreamer part of me.

I love to do animals, mostly birds and butterflies. I also like scenery , faces and figures, and abstract stuffs.

im just learning, and playing.
i dont have many skills with figures and precision yet, mostly im playing with lines and color. Like the op, i am mostly doing landscapes and seascapes- and skyscapes. I could paint only water and sky forever, lol.
But now i am working on an abstract. I found a tall narrow canvas and really just liked the dimensions (1 foot wide, 3 feet high). I stood it upright on the easel, and immediately a line presented itself to me. It is bold, orange. and forked at root and tip. The next day as i was working the background, i kept thinking "ygdrasil." I knew this was a mythical tree, but wanted to google it. I was painting instead, and my 6 yo ds came up and said "is that Ygdrasil?" I said "where did you hear about ygdrasil?" He brought me the book. I read the story of the mythical tree joining heaven and earth, and indeed this painting is Ygdrasil, but it was amazing to me how it popped into both mine and ds' head. And my painting really decidedly DOES NOT resemble the drawing of the tree in the book. Anyway, I am happy with this piece and it looks great but now im into the detail and having trouble with falling leaves. I need to sit with the sketchbook and fill a page with leaves before i go back to that canvas, lol.

I've been doing small canvases to hang in my daughter's room when I have time. I've done vines, surreal flowers, and a cat one that she loves but I hate for some reason. And before that I did a birth art piece. I'd like to continue to do bright and joyous things for her room - just have to somehow find time to get out and get canvas!!!

Someof my favorite things to paint have been small pieces of the natural world blown up to a really large proportion.

One of my favorite paintings I've done is a few sections of barnacle on a shell blown up to about 3ft by 3ft.

Since I like to paint large and I'm cheap I stretch my own canvas using lumber from the home improvement store, muslin from the fabric store, and sometimes use houspaint to prime and paint with. It sure beats the prices of prestretched canvas from the art supply store.

Hey willowbean, I'd really love to see that. You have any pics on line?

I just started painting again! I'm working on a large 1.5 m x 1.5 m (5.5 foot x 5.5 foot) acrylic painting of Sudoku. I'm big into typography and the contrast of black on white - though the painting is a huge array of mostly primary colors. During my 2 maternity leave's (we get 4 weeks off before birth) I did a lot of small scale silk paintings.

Abstracts and faces...

I like to paint abstracts and faces. You can click the links below to see a few, if you want. Oh yes, and I like to paint lettering too. I make baby name onesies.

I don't at the moment since the pics I had were on my old computers hard drive and it has since crashed. I'll have to try and get a good picture of it again.
