Thought this week's article was very interesting

Interesting read! It was far more positive (in regard to natural birth) than I would have expected. Great to see in mainstream media.

It was cool, and since it was from a more mainstream source, I hope it will be perceived as credible by my mainstream friend I sent it to.

Yes, wasn't it positive? I was very pleasantly surprised SeekingJoy--if your friend is intrigued by the article, she might be interested in the most recent issue of Mothering---it has Ricki Lake on the cover and discusses the film.

my mainstream friend pointed it out to me and was impressed an mdc friendly article was in newsweek!

Did you all notice the comment about homebirth -- I was thrilled. It stated in parens that homebirth does not post an appreciably higher risk than hospital birth. First mainstream acknowledgement I have seen.

Wow... really interesting article. Basically, a review (and a positive one) of "The Business of Being Born," but then they brought in a bit more info, talked about Dr. Villar's research and interviewed Jennifer Block (author of Pushed) to round it out.

The really amazing thing is, they didn't feel the need to get the "opposing view" and talk to some surgery-happy OB somewhere. ;-)

Hopefully this will raise interest in the movie and get more women asking the right questions about *their* birth experience!
