Hypnobabies - for first time mom?

This question has likely been asked a zillion times before, but....

I'm planning a homebirth for my first baby, due in late April. I'm considering buying the Hypnobabies home study course, but since it's a bit of an investment, I'm wondering if other Moms have had success with it - especially first timers! My midwife seems to offer mixed reviews on its efficacy for first time mothers, but I'd love some first-hand accounts. Many thanks - Sara

Well I'm using it this time (haven't birthed yet) and I can see no down side. For me, even if it doesn't work in labor it has been work the relaxation and peace it has offered through this pregnancy (and I do feel like it will be very helpful). We took a Bradley class with my DD (loved it and very informational but didn't feel it helped me have a peaceful or less painful birth in anyway) and it cost $200. With the homestudy you get to keep and can reuse (or resale) it if you want.

I would recommend hypnobabies. I just had my daughter a week and a half ago. It was my second birth, but I didn't know what to expect because my first was induced and terrible. Hypnobabies really helped me prepare for my home delivery, and I didn't have hardly any pain until I reached 8 cm. That was largely due to the fact that I stopped listening to the tracks for a little bit to get checked and get in the pool. If I had done it a little more by the book (kept listening and concentrating, using my center switch when moving around), I think it would have been pain free even longer. I would highly recommend it!

I had an amazing birth with HBabies. I am a previous Bradley teacher w/2 Bradley babes but nothing tops my HBabies birth. I highly recommend it and am using it again.

It seems like I post regularly about how great this program is. I just got mine in the mail (sold the other one - didn't think we'd have another babe) and, honestly, I just marveled when I perused the book on how darn perfect it is. I could cry!

Click my username and you'll find my posts - I seriously can't shut up about it.
