sizing help please

I am about to attempt to make something like this in a Newborn-6 month size, erring on the "3-6 month" end of things.

I don't have any kids and don't have any babies around to measure. I am wondering if y'all can help me in one of three ways:

1) I'd love a detailed size chart that has things like length of arm, length of leg, waist, chest, thigh/calf circumferences for newborn, 3 and 6 month babies.

2) I'd love if any of you could measure either your newborn-6 month baby, or a sleeper that they have that fits roughly like this suit fits, in these ways: armpit to wrist; crotch to ankle; armpit to ankle; chest; waist, thigh circumference; ankle circumference.

3) I'd love any advice on how fitted you would want something like this to be

Thanks so much for any help, I've never designed anything quite this fancy before. I have looked for patterns but most are for 6 mo+, or don't have the buttons down both sides like this.

You can always refer to the Craft Yarn Council's website at yarnstandards.com for industry standard measurements.

Thank you!!! That site is super. It didn't come up when I googled, guess I used the wrong words. i can combine that with my longies size chart and I think I'll have everything.

Well definately post when you have a pattern figured out and I can be a tester for you

For preferences, I'd rather have the legs somehow adjustable or err on the side of shorter, with these one piece outfits my kids tend to get their legs tangled up then stuck into just one hole if its too long- but perhaps that has to do more with the rise and where the crotch gusset falls if its too low?? I think generally for kids stuff I prefer to get a bigger size and let them use it a while so as far as fitted goes I don't know that it entirely matters a whole lot because I suspect many moms are like me letting them grow into things. I wouldn't mind seeing mods to add feet or hand covers if one wanted to because I'm generally lazy to figure out the math myself, but I certainly like the one as shown.

Oh, and my big thing, as weird as it is, I would like to see more patterns with alternatives for using heavier or ligher weight yarn. I'd like to see this in a worsted weight for cold weather and light sport weight for sleeping since my kids tend to overheat. And clearly my ablities in converting guage is not my forte

My DD is a year old but approx the size of a 6-9 month old so I'll measure her for you when I get home if I can remember (working graveyard this weekend.) Feel free to hound me if I forget and you still need it.
