Does anyone else have major cramping after their IUI? I've had two IUI's and with the first one I had a vagal response and major cramping and I was down for the rest of the day. The second time I didn't get the vagal response but I did get major cramping and was again down for the day. I could walk but it was painful. The doc said it's my uterus contracting because of the catheter (foreign object) being inserted so far up into my uterus. Am I the only one?

I get that too, for multiple days. It's not as bad on the few days following the IUI, but it's still noticeable. It worries me, but I've been told multiple times that it's perfectly normal and nothing to worry about. Not that worrying can change anything about the situation anyway.
I try to load up on Cal/Mag, and have recently discovered that easing up on the rrl tea also helps (for me). I also take homeopathic arnica right before and just after the IUI. These things seem to help a bit. However, hopefully you won't have to think about a next time!
Best of luck.

Katia, thank you for your response. I couldn't help but feel like I was just being a whimp about it all. I also have soreness the few days after. I also worry that because of the cramping it might be disturbing conception process.

I've heard acupuncture can help with the cramping. I had a slight bit and also some spotting last cycle.

Thank You For This Post!
I've had multiple IUI's - and today was hands down the worst. Paralyzing. I came home from work and have taken it easy. BUT like you said, it is sore.....to just walk. I walk like I'm prego.......LOL oh well. I do feel quite a bit better even if still sore and tylenol is all I can take?.........My first acupuncture treatment is tomorrow night (tuesday). I am excited!
