Are progestertone tests helpful?

I have pretty consistent cycle lengths of 30 days, but the past couple months I have spotting starting at cd24-25 and now this month I started spotting and cramping since cd19 (cramping for a couple days, but spotting for 2 so far). My midwife said that we could do some labs to check my progesterone levels. Are the results of this type of test helpful in anyway or does it vary so much anyways that the answer isn't clear?

We aren't TTC until this fall but now I'm getting paranoid. I feel like I don't have the CM that I had before this occurred either, not sure if that is a sign of anything.

if you don't have a high enough progesterone level, it can make ttc very difficult. i was temping and saw that i was consistently having a short LP. i had a progesterone test and was prescribed a bio-identical progesterone cream. it took 1 1/2 cycles on it before we got our BFP. hth!!!

That does help, thanks a bunch! I'm giving it one more cycle before I do testing since I'm not TTC until fall anyways.
