Homeopathic/naturopathic treatments for stress and or anger?

I have the little spray thing of Rescue Remedy, and it doesn't do a thing for me, but I'm finding myself rather too tightly wound these days, and I'm hoping to find some other options. Are there generally suggested treatments or tinctures for stress relief or anger management?

TIA!

There are other Bach Florals, you can google them and read the description, there might be some other remedy more suited to you. Also, Calm's Forte is homeopathic.

GABA is an amino acid, it is what valium simulates in your body, you can get it alone or in a combo with some other vitamins like B-6

B vitamins in general are the "calm" vitamins. A good B-complex can go a long way to help, and the typical American diet is very deficient, especially in vegetarians (if you are one). If you're not pregnant or nursing, a B-100 complex is ideal, if you are, stick with a B-50 instead.

Also, anger and stress can be symptoms of depression. Take a look at a book called The Mood Cure by Julia Ross and see if maybe you have some depression, she gives all natural remedies and a diet to treat mood issues.

Thank you! I always forget about Calms Forte. I just picked up a general women's multi yesterday but forgot to take it today. And yes, I'm acutely aware of the depression link (I've actually posted here before about it and got tons of great advice). I know I'm headed down that road, but I'm trying to make some lifestyle changes (for example, I've been eating HORRIBLY these last few months) first to see if that will help.

I need to put in an order at Vitaglo, so I'll do some research on the Bach's too and see what I can put together. And I'll see if I can get my hands on the Mood Cure too.

Thanks!

Look at Beech, Chicory, Holly, Heather, Willow and Vine. One or more will fit. Make sure you add Cherry Plum to anything you decide to take.

Rescue Remedy isn't meant to help anger.

Look also at B vitamins, GABA, omega 3's and vitamins A & D. Nutrition is always the basic place to start, but hte flower essences will help you even out so you *can* start thinking about eating better.

Thanks for the that--I was a little overwhelmed on my first foray into researching them. I'm also not sure how I would take them. Are the instructions included? Do they need to be diluted?

I thought RR was for times when you're starting to feel stressed (which is hand in hand with anger/frustration for me). Maybe that's the problem?

And thanks, I have the Mood Cure coming from the interlibrary loan system. I'm definitely going to add the supplements, I just want some more background on using them, how much of each, which are necessary, etc. I'm hoping it gets here soon!

Rescue remedy is for times of great (more acute) stress...the five flowers in it address shock, loss of control, trauma, fright and disassociation basically. It's not really for the "anger" kind of stress. Cherry Plum (found in RR) is for loss of control, thinking thoughts that are outside the range of normal (like you want to drive off a cliff) and the like. Helpful in that situation, but not entirely what you need.

Beech is for that punitive, judgmental, noone can do anything right kind of place.

Holly is for rage, hatred, jealousy.

Chicory is kind of a manipulative, you owe me kind of feeling. It's described as the "needy mother" the one that is always finding ways to make everyone else feel badly under the guise of doing it for their own good.

Willow is resentment. Great for mothers who tire of doing everything for everyone else with no thanks. Also for moms who have to eliminate foods for nurslings, can't live the lives they want because of their kids...etc.

Vine is controlling, hateful, punitive, unreasonable...kind of an evil stepmother remedy. Takes pleasure in hurting others. Kind of chokes the life out of those around them.

Heather is a self centered, everything that is happening is about me deal...goes VERY well with several others.

You can just put two drops of each (you can use up to 7 at once) in a bottle of water and sip throughout the course of the day. You can also get a little mixing bottle and put 2 drops of each in spring water and take that as often as you think of it. I also encourage people to add them to their bathwater.

Happy healing!

What wonderful info!!! And now, for what might be a dumb question....where can one get these flower essences?

You can search Bach Flowers on the internet or if you have a health food store near you they generally do carry Bach's essences.

My midwife recommended Motherwort tincture for anxiety and irritability. I have found that if I can curb those two, I can avoid getting to the anger stage.

I hope this helps!

I always forget about Motherwort! It was truly miraculous for my fear when in labor.

my plan

I read the Mood Cure and saw an amazing Naturopath...
--5 htp
--Calcium and Magnisium (LOTS 2000mg)
--Gama
--Evening Primrose
--Progest cream (for PMS)
--Omega3 (3000mg)
--Good Multivitamin

In addition to the above 25g. of protein a meal. One salad and serving of veggies a day (probably more, but I am really bad at eating my veggies).

Oh, I suffer from depression, anxiety, and am quick to anger.... I am also nursing a 25month old and these supplements were ok'd by my naturopath (who specialized in women's health...).

anyone have any tips for anxiety?

I use bach flowers and EFT pretty successfully for anxiety. Everyone wouldn't necessarily need the same thing....the flowers to look at are aspen, mimulus, cherry plum and impatiens. EFT is also amazing, I have found it to be extremely helpful.
