Help me with my ultimate 80's mix

All right, I'm in the midst of an 80's nostalgia kick - not like the kind you can hear on the radio though. I wanna hear Sex Dwarf by Soft Cell, I just listened to my Spandau Ballet record, and just bought Depeche Mode's Some Great Reward on cd off ebay because I only have it on vinyl.

I wanna make an mp3 cd full of songs like that, bands like the cure and the smiths and new order and stuff........... trouble is, I can't think of songs.

What bands/songs would you have on your ultimate 80's collection?

Off to track down a source of Icicle Work's Whisper to a Scream, and the Vandal's Urban Struggle...

I'd have:

Almost anything by Depeche Mode but especially: Stripped, Fly on the Windscreen, Sacred, Behind the Wheel, Somebody, Strangelove, Things You Said, Shake the Disease, Master and Servant, Policy of Truth, A Question of Lust, But Not Tonight, I Want You Now, Things You Said and Here is the House.

I loved OMD but I can't remember any of their songs, same thing with New Order and the Cure.

How about Girlfriend in a Coma by Smiths?

Ya know Amazon has a pretty extensive music section and they list the titles to the somg of many of the cd's. You might want to scan some of the titles of your favorite bands and you might remember the names of the songs you liked.

What about XTC? "Dear God" or "The Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead"

And The Cult. I used to loooooove The Cult. I think my favorite songs by them are "Rain" and "She Sells Sanctuary," but the whole "Rain" album is good.

Edited to add the Violent Femmes! "Blister in the sun," "Add it up," "Kiss off," "Gone Daddy Gone," "Prove my love."

T "Come on Eileen!" Boy, does that bring back memories. My name is Aileen (pronounce Eileen) and back in the day, practically every boy I met would sing a few bars of that song at me. Each one thought he was being incredibly witty and original.:

This one is kind of obscure, but I always associate the eighties with Meryn Cadell's song, "The Sweater."
Whew, thanks Daylily from stopping me from singing it to you (because you know I can't "see" you with out humming it to myself )! :LOL

Oh man! Thanks sistas! What a great list to get started on! I've culled all I can from my collection, now I'm trying to get those random songs I don't own...

rachelle-a-tron - that so reminds me of growing up... my friends were (I guess are) mormon, and they had a montly dance at their stake center and the dj was always so great, I think they were affiliated with KROQ in LA, and your song list was our song list (minus Kiss Me, they wouldn't let them play that because it says "your love is better than wine". Yes, we pointed out to them that that verbage is from the bible...).

dragonfly, everyone is pretty much on the right track here, does your dh have anything to add??

there are bands where I feel like I might know the song if I heard it again....

Here is what I'm still looking for:
depeche mode - behind the wheel/route 66
english beat -mirror in the bathroom
echo and the bunnymen - bring on the dancing horses, killing moon
ultravox - dancing with tears in my eyes
wire train - chamber of hellos
blancmange - don't tell me
new order - bizarre love triangle, blue monday, everytime I see you falling, shell shock, subculture, true faith
marc almond
cure - kiss me, kiss me, kiss me, why can't I be you, just like heaven
aztec camera - oblivious
bangles - hazy shade of winter
berlin - metro
the smiths - vicar in a tutu, please please please let me get what I want, stop me if you think that you've heard this one before, every day is like sunday, cemetary gates, suicide is painless,
bronski beat - hit that perfect beat, smalltown boy, tell me why, run away, never can say goodbye
whistle down the wind - nick heyward
camper van beethoven - pictures of matchstick men
the clash - rock the casbah, should I stay or should I go now
alone again or - the damned
sparks- music that you can dance to,
just drive - wall of voodoo
dramarama - anything, anything
stephen "tin tin" duffy - hold it, kiss me
omd - tesla girl, electricity, so in love

I'm putting them on mp3 to burn to a disc for the car or the computer. So far my sources have been my cd collection, and some cd's from the library. I'm now having to turn to, ah, other sources shall we say, for the random songs I don't have.
WOW I'm impressed with your lists. However, I want to add (or perhaps they are already there and I missed them?)
Men at work

The Waterboys
Simple Minds
The Police
