Shall we get to know each other a little bit?

My name is Beth, I'm a sahm to Hadassah (5), Ethan (3) and Hannah (2).

I've been married 11 years to an electrician. I stay busy in church and family life. I also like to read, quilt and cook...mostly what I do is cook though!

I have had 3 unassisted births with husband and family present, 2 of which were water births (my favorite way to go!).

I think I'm having a boy, mostly because my poor son needs a brother!

My favorite movie is The Empire Stikes Back. But I am not a geek! (yes, I have all the Star Wars toys from my childhood, but, who doesn't?)

How about you ladies?

I'm Lydia, sahm to Gabriel (8), Kolaiah (4), Winter (2) and Suriya (1 next month).

My DH and I have been married since December 1,2007. He is a manager in a busy technical call center and works long hours. I am learning to knit and sew and I love to cook, although not right at the moment, it makes me feel a little icky.

I've had two hospital births and two midwife-attended home waterbirths. Our last was a virtually unassisted but midwife attended birth in which my DH caught the baby while our midwife sat on our couch knitting. We'd like to go that route again.

I think I'm having a girl, or possibly twins, because I am feeling nauseated already at 3 w4d and tested positive very early for me. Also, I craved Cocoa Puffs, which is totally weird.

I can't think of a favorite movie right now because my brain is mush.

My name is Tricia. I'm 37 and a sahm to 6 girls and 1 boy, ages 1 - 17. I've been married 18yrs to my dear sweet hubby. We were highschool sweethearts. Our ds(7) is of course hoping for a brother, but honestly I'm completely happy with either. If it's a girl, then she will have some good playmates close to her age.

We are a conservative, close-knit, Christian family. I've had my last 5 babies at home with midwives; my first two were c/secs. I'm VERY intrigued by the whole unassisted thing. I always dream of my mw not making it in time, but they always do just in time.

I stay busy with homeschooling and enjoy cooking, cloth diapering, and playing clarinet with my older kids when I get a chance. Our 3 oldest play clarinet, flute, and trumpet, so we have our own little family band going on. I also enjoy playing games with the kids and reading.

My favorite movie... I can't pick just one. I like the old Disney movies like The Parent Trap, The Ugly Dachshund, That Darn Cat. I also like Sound of Music and National Treasure. Pretty tame here. I used to like thriller type movies, but I just can't do those anymore.

I don't have an official positive yet (but I am pretty positive, with out the test).
You all seemed so great, I just wanted to join in!

I am Marci, sahm to Adelynn (2.5) and Elias (9 months). I am excitedly scared about having another baby so soon, but the more the merrier, right!

We live and work at a camp for low income children in the Four Corner region. We live simply for the Lord and enjoy life soooo much! I am contemplating a home birth this time (1st- midwife at birth center, 2nd- midwife at hospital). I just need to get my dh on board.

I love knitting, reading, crafting and teaching my children. I am trying to learn more about healthy and organic eating and I have recently started jogging. We want to have better habits in life.

I think we are having a...baby?!? LOL! I don't have a clue, never do!

My favorite movie is Pride and Prejudice (6 hour version). I also love In Pursuit of Happyness and Goonies!

Hi everyone!

I'm Carrie, married to Chris since May 2006, and this will be our first baby. We started dating when we were 17 (we are now both 26) and we are so excited about this adventure!

Right now I'm currently working full time as an administrative assistant for a raw materials distributor in the cosmetics industry, but I just earned my Esthetics license and am looking for a new job/career in the spa industry. Right now my biggest concern is getting this new job early enough (hopefully before my 1st trimester is over!) so that I can comfortably work in a spa throughout the pregnancy. We will see how that pans out, I suppose.

Chris and I are both vegan and plan on raising our baby vegan as well.

Other than that, we have two cats whom we love dearly, and we are working on renovating our home that we have had for almost 4 years. That's us in a nutshell! So happy to meet everyone! Congrats to all!

Hi Ladies! I am thrilled to be joining all of you. I don't have an official due date yet, but I think it will be around Oct. 8 or so.

My name is Adrienne and I am a sahm to Ben (6) and Eli (3) who bring me joy, laughter, frustration and chaos everyday. We are a homeschooling family and we are loving it. I am very passionate about homeschooling.

I am married to a wonderful man, who puts up with me and my extended family - Bless his heart! We have been married almost 12 years and we met while we were both traveling in Europe in our early 20s. Man, that seems like a lifetime ago.

Our two sons were both born as naturally as possible in a Birth Center/hospital with a wonderful midwife. Our first was induced because of high blood pressure at 38 weeks. I also had an IV with antibiotics because I tested positive for Group B Strep. Otherwise, it went really well and took about 6 hours. Our second was born on his due date and with very little assistance in about 3 hours. I am hoping for an even quicker birth this time!

I would love to have a girl, but I am not going to make any predictions this time. I thought the first two were going to be girls...Oops! My parents have 6 grandsons and no granddaughters, so a girl would be a nice addition, and I would really like to name her after my mother. But I would be just as happy with another boy. I love my boys!

I would like to try a homebirth, as I was born at home unassisted. I know my father would be very proud to attend the birth of one of my children, since he was the one who "caught" me. I am a little nervous though because my second son was limp when he was born. He came out of it quickly, but that made me very nervous. He was just like a pile of jelly when they handed him to me, and then they quickly took him and rubbed him all over to 'bring him to life'. It was very scary. I am sure that a trained midwife could have done the same thing, but I am still a little scared. Actually my first choice over having a homebirth is to have this baby at The Farm in middle TN - where the author of Spiritual Midwifery, Ina May Gaskin lives and (I think) still is a midwife. We live about an hour and a half away, so I am hoping to get in there. (We have moved since our last child was born, so hiring the midwife we used before is out of the question.)

We decided a while back to live a simpler life. We moved to a farm in the middle of nowhere with my parents and my sister and her family. We all have our own houses (thankfully - Living with extended family isn't always easy.) and plenty of room on 200 acres. We are growing as much of our own food as we can, and we are working on building new houses - as the ones that were here are not very efficient or nice. We hope to convert mostly to solar and wind power over the next few years. We have bees, turkeys, chickens, peacocks, guineas, geese, ducks, and lots of dogs and cats. We love this lifestyle, even though it is pretty hard sometimes. We have a very limited income, but lots of love and we get to spend tons of time together - which is what life is all about, right?

As for hobbies, I don't have time for much with the farm and the kids. I love homeschooling and playing and doing crafts with the kids. I love to bake and I like to cook. I love to read and write (Can you tell? I tend to ramble.) and I would really like to finish the three books I've started writing. I also love scrapbooking, but I have no time for it.

As for movies, there are too many to mention. I loved the Lord of the Rings and my dh and I just finished the Bourne trilogy, which we also loved. I really like old movies/musicals too.

Well, I hope we all have a great 9 months. I am very excited about it, and happy that I have a place to come and share with others who are going through the same things.

My name is Misty, I'm a sahm to Elizabeth (8), Raymond (6), Olivia (4), and Louis (17 months).

I've been married almost 12 years to an computer engineer/architect. I also like to read, sew, knit, crochet, scrapbook, and cook. I'm a total foodie, so be prepared - a lot of my posts will be food related!

I have had two midwife attended hospital births - one was horrible; one was great. I have also had two midwife attended home births that were wonderful. I'll be having a home birth this time. I've heard that my midwife retired. I've also heard a rumor that she is only semi-retired and will still work with previous clients. So, I am keeping my fingers crossed. I'm calling her first thing Monday morning.

I have no idea if I'm having a boy or girl. If previous history continues, we'll have a girl! We have girl, boy, girl, boy.

I love just about any genre movie - including SciFi. Dh turned me into SciFi fan!

my name is Stephanie. I am haven't even been married a whole year yet. We got married when ds was 8 months old. I am 31, but will be 32 when this baby is born.

My first ds was a scheduled c-section. I had fibroids and a bicornute uterus that were both fixed by surgery before I got pregnant. The surgery left too much scar tissue so I was at a higher risk than just someone with previous c-sections. So, I know for a fact this baby will be a c-section too, unless it comes super fast and there isn't any time. Also, last time they scheduled me at 37.5 weeks, so... my Oct. 2nd due date may get bumped back to September. But since Oct is my official due date, I am going to stay in this ddc.

I do home daycare, so I have been able to be with my ds... oh btw he is 18 months.

Hobbies??? I like to shop, I am a compulsive house cleaner (like in an ocd way) and I also enjoy reading.

nice to meet you all!

My name is Janet. My DH and I have been married since June 29, 2002. DH works for University of Phoenix as an enrollment counselor and I am in my second semester of nursing school. I have five children: Hannah and Hailey, identical girls (6), one single boy, C.J. (4) and Anthony and Jamie, boy/girl twins (2).

I have done just about everything you can in childbirth. My first were with an epidural in the hospital with an OB, my middle son was a natural birth in the hospital with a CNM, and my babies were a planned homebirth, but we transported for a c-section. So the only thing I haven't done is a homebirth, which we are going to do this time. Yay for HBAC!

I enjoy reading, cross-stitching, watching movies and just spending time with my kids. I also work as a doula and Bradley teacher. I am considering training as a midwife (as soon as I am done with this semester of nursing school for my LPN) so I stay pretty busy. I too would like my midwife to sit there and watch my birth. I basically want an unassisted birth with my mw there as a bystander, you know...as a friend. She is the one who will be training me in the future :

It's really hard to pick just one favorite movie, but I really love Say Anything. I really like all kinds of movies, but I'm a real sap for romantic comedies.

Welcome, Jord? Joro? How do you pronounce your name? I speak American, so you know... I need help with these things.

Welcome and congratulations!

American? I'm in Colorado and born in Texas. It sounds like Yorth, it's the name of a Norse goddess.

Hi! My name is Maegen and I'm 28. DH and I have been married since Nov. 2005. I live in San Diego but I was born and raised in Texas and still consider that home.

DH and I are both ocularists and we own a business together in San Diego. That means that we work together. Yep, 24/7. You can check out what we do at www.artificialeye.net

I am planning on homebirth which makes DH a little nervous. I am looking at midwives in our area right now and hope to find someone that I really love.

My biggest hobby is paragliding. I am a tandem instructor and I love taking people up on their first flight. I will have to give that up pretty quickly I know, but I will go back to it after the baby is born. I also love to run, do yoga, read, hike and just about anything outdoors.

My favorite movie of all time is Casablanca. I just saw Juno and it was great! Basically, I like all good movies from the dramas to the popcorn flicks.

I'm Mandi, SAHM to Leo (3.5) and Evelyne (14 mo). I teach Bradley Method birthing classes once a week. My husband is a handsome French computer geek

I have had two natural births (one at a free standing birth center and one at a hospital). I hope to have a home water birth this time.

I'm originally an army brat from Texas. I've been in the Northwest for 5 years now. My hobby is watching foreign films from Netflix, reading, baking (gluten-free at the moment), and I sometimes write poetry. The last movie that I saw and liked enough to add to favorites was "Stranger than Fiction" with Will Ferrel. I like working out at the gym when DH can watch the kids long enough for me to get away

Nice to meet you all!

Can you guys explain something about Bradley to me? WHY? I know a few Bradley instructors and the little that I've learned has left me feeling very anti bradley method. I'd like to understand why people choose this method.

And BTW- I'm from Texas too. Thank God I got out! )Corpus Christi(

Dh is from Dallas!

What is it that you don't like about Bradley? Dh and I took a class when I was pg for the first time. I think we learned a lot of good info about breathing and relaxing. We also learned a lot of good info about positioning. I didn't read the original book by Bradley. I've been told that it's pretty chauvenistic! (Yea, I know I just spelled that wrong!) I have to give him kudos though, he was a huge supporter of natural childbirth and getting fathers into the delivery room.

I'm Linda, a 31yo SAHM and part-time Music Together teacher, born and raised in the SF bay area. DH (33) is a hardware designer for a startup in Silicon Valley. We met through an online match service six years ago this Sunday.

DS is 2 years old and still nursing happily (but recently night-weaned).

Our family in a nutshell: AP, GD, unschooling, TV-free. We have an amazing AP community in our area. We lived on a 30-ft sailboat until DS was 15 months, and have plans to sail away for an extended period sometime in the future.

We had a hospital birth with DS (we didn't want to try a homebirth on a sailboat) and had an incredible experience: drug- and intervention-free, nearly pain-free, and intense! But, we really want to have a homebirth for #2. We're due 10/12, five days before DH's birthday.

Favorite movies: Fight Club, Box of Moonlight, City of Lost Children and more I can't remember now...it's been a while since we've seen anything.

Happy to be here with the group!
