All about you! - Page 2

Hello, hello, everyone!

I'm staring at two bloody obvious pink lines, so I guess I get to join in.

The husbandperson and I are both 28, and this is our first. He's a teacher, I work retail part-time. We have three dogs. And, by the way, that is very often three too many. We're Christians, but haven't been going to church as much as we ought to. Will have to rectify that now that a little one is on the way.

My hobbies include cross-stitching, reading, and spending too much time on the computer. I've done a little sewing in the past, and my goal is ultimately a good fitting pair of pants, but I think I'll put that on hold now. We plan on having a free-standing birth center birth, cloth diapering, breastfeeding, and sorta co-sleeping - will probably side-car a crib.

Now. Where do I get one of those ticker things?

My name is Erin, I'm 29 (will be 30 when this babe is born, which is perfect because I wanted to be done having kids at 30) and married for almost 8 years now. I have a 3 year old named Audrey born 12/04 and my DH stays home with her while I work full-time. I do tech support.

Why does he stay home? Well, I live in Canada and am a natural born citizen (as is DD), but DH is American and just recently got his permanent residence approved here so he wasn't legally able to work. He will have a job by the time babe is born so that we will have his income as well as mine from maternity leave.

My last birth was an emergency c-section, but baby was healthy and I had an incredibly easy recovery from it. Want to avoid that this time. Have a feeling this one will be a boy, but another girl would be more than welcome. We plan to be done either way.

Other than work, I am co-directing and acting in a local dinner theatre that goes into performances in the first week of March, so with the exhaustion of early pregnancy I am plumb worn out!

My intro

I'm Ashley, mama to 4 homebirthed little ones...3 DS's: 8, 6, and 4, and DD: 19 months. This will make baby #5 and everyone is still a little shell-shocked by that. Like all the other kiddos, we'll plan a midwife-assisted HB for this babe, too.

I'm a nurse and I work in a free-standing birth center. I'm also in grad school working on my CNM. I suppose if we could've chosen the best time to be expecting again this would be it as my school schedule will be manageable early fall. I was at 2 births in the wee hours of the morning and I was an emotinal nutcase, lol! I just kept thinking that I'll have another precious babe, too in October.

Another interesting fact: dh and I are vegan. He's been vegan for almost 15 years and I've been vegan going on 9 years. I've had 3 veagn pregnancies and our kids have been veg since birth.

In my "spare" time I can get pretty crafty. I've been sewing since I could ride a bike so that's my passion. I'm also into photography and am a certified birth art junkie. My poor dh calls our room the "breast and belly shrine."

I'm super excited to be here and hope to be more active in this ddc than I was able to be with my last preg.

: Here's to all the October '08 mamas!! :

Hi!
I just found out I am pg, and now I can't sleep, although I really should be.
My name is Kate. I have been married to DH for 4 years. We have a 7 month old, Claire. It has taken me about five minutes to go from elated to very worried about being a mom to two small kiddos! I love bf-ing and am just starting to cloth diaper, which has turned out to be really addictive.
I am a sixth grade teacher, working very part time this year to be with DD. I love teaching almost as much as being a mom.
I live far in the middle of nowhere.
I had a medicated hospital birth last time. I am hoping for a nonmedicated birth this time.
I am really thrilled to be part of this group! Thank you all for being so warm and welcoming!

Hmm, haven't gotten around to posting here!

I have a 3 1/2 year old little boy who is the love of my life. I got to stay home with him for the first year and a half, then I went back to school and work part time. About 8 months later I started online classes and ran an in-home daycare so I could have time with my little guy, which was great. I finalized a separation a year and a half ago and as a result of the ongoing stresses of that, moved up to TN for a semester to have some family support. I moved back down here after the semester was over in December to be with DP, we've been together a little over a year and we decided we wanted to have a life together. My sister planned a rushed wedding for this spring so we held off on those plans, but now we've found that we're expecting a little one. DP and I have known each other since we were 16 and have always had "something" between us, it was just always one of those games where one person was always dating someone else in high school and after, then we lost touch. He's a fire medic, I was going to school for nursing on my way to midwifery, but I was thinking of switching gears and going for teaching and now with this babe coming that is definitely what I'm doing, I'll be able to take online courses that way.

We're an all natural type family, when I first found MDC I was thrilled to feel "at home" instead of the odd one out. We do all the "weird" things, child led weaning, ECing and CDing, cosleeping, GD, etc etc. I'm currently trying to teach myself to knit so I can make soakers and longies for this little one.

Interesting bunch we are!

I'm Kelli, 30 yo, a midwife, Canadian, mama to Scarlett (2 yo) and married for almost 9 years to DH. The closest thing to affiliating with a religious group would be unitarian. We are a very nature oriented family and celebrate solstice and equinox. We try to eat organic and mostly local foods. ITA with other posters about feeling at home here at MDC, we too do the weird stuff like cloth diaper, nurse toddlers, cosleep etc...

Hmmm, hobbies...mostly midwifery related (as I would call it a lifestyle instead of a job), I like hiking, swimming, anything winter related...skating, skiing, I even taught ice climbing when I was younger and much more fit. My goal this year is to have a much more balanced life and DO the things I enjoy doing.

My secret bad mother confession is that DD is 2 and I STILL haven't finished her "baby" book . That is this month's project .

Favourite movie eh? There are so many? I'll think about it.

Happy to be here and looking forward to getting to know everyone better!

I'm Tara (26), married to Ryan (28 on Feb 13). We were married on Oct 7, 2006. We live in Kansas City and I work as a personal trainer and group exercise instructor. As soon as I'm not physically able to work or baby is born, I'll be a SAHM. DH runs a property management company. We have a home about 3 blocks from my parents and are really enjoying home-ownership. We have plans to finish painting the interior before summer and replace the backsplash and countertops in the kitchen. They're original from when the house was built in 1976 so it's a beautiful mustard yellow..... We'll also be replacing the fridge, dishwasher, and washer/dryer as soon as our tax refund comes. I'm so excited! Who knew I'd ever be excited about new appliances!

This is our first baby, due around Oct 17. We were successful on our 5th cycle and are absolutely thrilled! Before I was pg, our baby was always a girl in my dreams but now that I'm actually pg, I feel like it's a boy. It's very strange, my gut feeling just changed, almost immediately.

We have 2 kitties, Rhett (Chocolate Point Siamese) and Gus (Burmeses) who we spoil rotton!

My fave movie/book is Gone With the Wind. I'm hooked on Across the Universe right now though. It makes me cry every time!

I'm a music nut. My real Dad is a drummer so I was raised on classic and southern rock like Tom Petty, Scandal, Bob Seger, and Georgia Satellites. He doesn't play professionally or anything but he's always involved in a band and, growing up, I loved to listen when they practiced. My CD collection is EXTREMELY eclectic with everything from Disney soundtracks to Metallica, George Straight to big band swing, etc. I just love music!

I really enjoy cross stitching and have recently started one we bought on our anniversary trip to Disney World in Oct. It's Mickey and Minnie sitting on a park bench, Norman Rockwell-style. It's huge so I'm hoping it'll be a great project during my pregnancy.

We are season ticket holders for Mizzou Football but I imagine I won't be attending those this fall since baby is due around homecoming. We'll see how I feel when we have to decide to buy or not in April. I just can't see being very enthused about football when it's hot outside in August and I'm 30 weeks pg. We got to go to the Cotton Bowl to watch Mizzou play on New Years Day and had a blast! The hotel had a really awesome new years eve party and tailgates and such. We went with DH's parents, grandma, brother, and brother's girlfriend. SO much fun!

Anyway, I'm sure I've rambled enough and you all know more about me than you really wanted to.

Hi all! It is so interesting to read about all of you! I am Jaclyn, a stay at home mom to my 20 month old daughter. I also babysit a 19 month old boy in my home too (might have to tell his mom no more after October!).
We had a homebirth with the first, and plan to again with this one. Last pregnancy though, we started out with an OB/hospital planned because truthfully, I didn't even know I had options. Then we took our Bradley class, and realized that people do still have homebirths, . So, we researched the options, and switched to a midwife at 33 weeks prego. And the homebirth was great. I can't imagine doing it any other way.
We are a christian family, pretty active in church, although we are WAY different than most there. I am a vegetarian, dh is veg at home (haha because i don't cook meat), but he eats meat when we go out to eat. DD wil prob. be a veg.
Before being a mommy, I was a mental health counselor at a children's home, and I currently teach an online class for a college in NC - Developmental psych.
And, the biggie, we just finished our homestudy to do foster/adopt through the foster care system - hoping to adopt a 0-2 year old. So, we may end up with a foster baby in a few months, and then our bio baby in October. We just pray everything works out okay....
It's nice to meet you all!
