I happened upon a cardboard castle link and got inspired to do something slightly different. I don't want to recreate the wheel you know. You can see the link at my blog (see link below). What I want to do is take the cardboard boxes, cut them out like it says there ,but instead just use it for wall covering, FLAT. My son wants his room to be a castle. We always love watching Extreme Home Makeover, and they always do handy easy things to make rooms really cool. I want to make new walls for my sons room, cut them out at the top to resemble a castle. We will paint the cardboard before we attach it to the wall (likely with staples) and we will put one large box in the corner of his room to be the castle dungeon. We will use the painting techniques on Mr. McGroovy's website to make it look like castle wall blocks.
The window will get it's own special castle treatment, and the whole room will be a perfect set for acting out Harry Potter.
The idea of putting up cardboard walls, is that when we move, or he tires of this, we can take down the walls, give them to someone else, let my daughters use them or whatever. Or they can be thown away, recycled into something else, or given to a theatre.
Does anyone see what I am trying to do here, and do you know of any websites I can look at that would use this same idea?
If I can find a place to make the full cardboard castle, I would like to work on this with our local homeschooling coop.
Okay, help me here! : )
