Well, after a 4/12 month hiatus- we're trialing cheese tonight! Mozzerella to be exact, in eggplant parmesan. I SO do not want this to fail. Wish us luck!

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

That's exciting. How did it go? I have not had a morsel of dairy in over a year. I have fantasies about a burrito w/cheese AND sour cream...

I should tell you that I continued to use raw goat milk and a little goat yogurt and goat cheese during this time. And I've been working my way up to cheese. We passed yogurt and live-cultured sour cream. I didn't notice ANY reaction in myself... we'll know by tonight (probably) is Taslyn is going to react through my breastmilk. But its looking good so far! My 'gut feeling' is that we're going to do okay with dairy now that our guts are mostly healed- in moderation of course.

I think we may be failing cow cheese. I didn't notice any symptoms in myself but dd has had two small diarrhea type stools and her bottom looks a little pink. We'll know for sure by morning. I don't believe we'll pass, which pushes back the next try to around her birthday in late July.

I am so sorry. I haven't had cheese since March of last year and would really have liked to see you succeed. So you do trials every 6 mos.? Any symptoms besides the two you mention? Did you or your child have any issues w/ soy?
I also noticed in your signature list you're avoiding oats...this was one I haven't studied. I am still trying to pin down exactly what causes which reactions in my son, so I hope I'm not being rude w/ my direct questions.
Really hope your trial results look better by tomorrow.

Still unsure about the cheese trial. No other symptoms to report. I did have cheese again at lunch yesterday, so we'll see what happens next. I would have expected more distinct reactions- screaming, night waking, loads of poo, rashes... No, we've only reacted to a soy product once- chocolate Silk soy milk- evil evil evil. I trial when I think we've had time to heal and things are going really well for us. Dairy is a big one, it takes a long time to clear your system and she has a good chance of outgrowing it. So I'm thinking if I give something a wide berth then maybe that increases our chances. But I've also read that if you stop all dairy for long periods you decrease your chance of tolerating it again because the gene that allows lactase production shuts down for most folks. IDK. I'm playing this by ear.

Well, here we are into day 4 of the cow cheese trial... I had NACHOS for lunch yesterday. And no more symptoms to report! If things are still looking good in 12 hours then I'm calling this a cautious pass!
