Gum recession....HELP!!

I am sort of freaking out!!

I've always had significant dental issues and my teeth are quite misaligened. I had a tooth pulled a few years back and now the gum around the tooth next to it is severely receeding. There are a few other spots of recession as well, but no pain (well, execpt in one spot). My gums look nice and white-ish/pink, little to no bleeding, no swelling, ect. We are currenly in the process of declaring bankrupty due to a loss of our business and we absolutely can NOT afford dental bills right now. I am brushing gently with Toms toothpaste, as well as with a baking soda/salt/aloe mixture.

What else can I do? I'm horrified and ashamed!

I'm sorry to hear of your business loss. My husband and I went through the same thing last year with his business. It's an awful experience but nothing to feel ashamed of. This economy is forcing so many good people into situations they would otherwise never have to live through. I wish you both the best!

Here is my "plan". I hope you will find the information provided here helpful. I have researched this over the past couple of weeks because I have some minor decay in three molars but I do not want to fill them because of the toxic ingredients in dental fillings.

I have healthy gums also but they have are also receded (most likely because I brushed too hard at times). Nothing much you can do besides gum surgery, once they are gone. However, if you cannot do gum surgery, you must have a healthy diet and keep the area free of the bad bacterias that cause decay of the teeth. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Receding_gums

I am going to follow this regimen:
Xylitol mints 3-4 time daily especially after eating/snacks,
Brush and floss w/homemade tooth powder using xylitol & bee proplis powder
About xylitol: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xylitol

About bee propolis: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Propolis

NOTE: toothpastes (even organic ones) contain glycerin which has been shown to coat teeth and actually prevent the minerals in your saliva from remineralizing teeth.

I also will be eating a diet rich in Factor X (kerrygold butter) and fat-soluble vitamins (cod liver oil) based on findings of Weston A. Price DDS
Good summary: http://www.karlloren.com/diet/p39.htm
Good source if you want an all-in-one supplement: http://www.drrons.com/butter-oil-cod...-oil-blend.htm

Adding a L. reuteri supplement to my diet
About: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lactobacillus_reuteri
Source: http://www.natureshealthypeople.com/...l_reuteri.html

Although the supplements are not exactly cheap, it is a small price to pay too keep from having high medical bills from all the dental and side effects that come from fillings. I am hoping that by making my diet healthier and by reducing the bad bacteria, I can improve the health of my teeth and gums and forego any surgery.

Good luck in your research and healing!

My dh just had this problem, likely caused by "meticulous" and hard brushing. We went to a natural dentist who told him to use an irrigator with Natural Dentist brand wash in it each night. He puts 1/3 capful of this in a tank of warm water. The dentist also said to rinse and swish with water within five minutes of eating anything. (We found the best deal on Natural Dentist at Walgreens - 9.99 for a 16 oz. container which lasts about 1 1/2 months.)
