Can you have both a lotus birth AND placentophagia?

Hello

I'm in the cook and eat your placenta camp. However with this baby (#4) I really want to lotus birth her. Can I have both? If so, here are a few questions that spring to mind.

1. I am very interested in the spiritual aspect of lotus birth. Is having a piece of placenta cut off, going to be as possibly upsetting as having the cord cut? Because, of course, I would like to avoid any such thing.

2. I am very intrigued at the concept of cord blood getting to the baby, as long as 3 or so hours after birth in some cases. Will damaging the placenta, change that?

3. Related to the above, if we should wait to cut off a piece, how long is "safe". I am vegan, and unfamiliar with handling meat in this way. For me it is as simple as wait for the cord to stop pulsating, cut, place in the fridge, and cook later. How long can it safely stay unchilled? Not long, right?

Thank you for any input, even just common sense/gut feeling input is welcome!

But please, no anti-placentophagia or anti-lotus birth responses though. Thanks.

Cooked meat is usually not supposed to sit out more than 2 hours, raw far less than that. Salting the placenta to speed drying and fend off bacteria usually accompanies lotus birth as well as ancient food preservation, so with the salting I think it could be safe to eat. It seems to me though, that the placenta should not be cut while still attached by cord to the baby. After an hour or two the blood is no longer being exchanged, it's closed off at the belly button for the most part, but in case it wasn't competely closed off, a cutting of the placenta could bleed and take blood from your baby. I don't know the physiology of that for certain but it just sounds like a risk to me. Also, spiritually it feels like a much bigger invasion than cutting the cord to cut a chunk off the organ to me, not by modern yoga theory behind lotus just my gut feeling.

One option is to salt it for preservation and wait those few hours then go ahead and cut the cord and chill the placenta. That way the connection's been more thoroughly shut off and baby's had more time to adjust than the standand 5ish minutes til the pulsing's done.
