ACH! I broke my sewing machine!

I'm doing Gavin and Noah's blankets. I ran out of thread on my bobbin, so I took it out, rethreaded it, and put it back in the bobbin holder place (nice sewing terminology ) and now its screwed up. All the thread just bunches up in the bobbin holder place so it won't sew properly. I've taken the bobbin out at least 20 times and put it back different ways but it still won't work. What the heck is wrong??????

Could the tensioner on the bobbin case have come loose?

Which thread is bunching up... the top one, the bobbin one, or both?

Top thread is fine. Bobbin one is just bunching up, so the sewing machine stops, and when I take the test fabric away and cut the thread, it looks like a head of hair.

When you wound the thread on the bobbin was going through the tension thingie properly. On most machines, the thread comes off the spool gets looped around some sort of tension plate thing(what it is varies from machine to machine) and then to the bobbin winder. If it's not in the tension plate properly the bobbin will wind too loose and that can cause problems like what you discribed.

Try re winding the bobbin. You can just put the bobbin you already have where the thread goes and wind it onto a fresh bobbin. Make sure the thread is secure in the tension thingie.

Ooh, thank you I will try that! Now hopefully I have another bobbin!
