Any Ideas For Using Old Fancy Eye Shadows

Do any of you crafty mums have any suggestions for using up old eye shadows?

I have quite a bit of really fancy, sparkly eye shadow (we used to get it for stage productions, Christmas Parades etc)- some of it not even touched- but it's several years old and has been stored in a shed, so it's not really safe to use on faces any more.

It seems a shame just to chuck it, so has anyone tried using it as an art material, like mixing it with water and painting or whatever? Or does it just come off too easily and make a mess once it dries?

Any other suggestions?

Or am I just being silly thinking of holding onto it, and should I chuck it and forget about it?

Anthea.

I betcha you could mix it with glue/tempra paint ect to make some fancy glue or paint. Or you could take one of those cornstarch finger paint recipes and add the eyshadow instead of food coloring.

Thanks aquarian. I had been wondering about the glue angle... think I will experiment a little and see what happens. It just seems such a shame to chuck it all away, but if I don't use it for something soon, I will, or it will just end up as "one day" clutter.

Hrmm. Do you have small kidlings? If it's in powder form (I mean, not so tightly compacted you can't crumble it into dust), you could use it for that kindergarten craft standby project. Draw pictures, squiggles etc on paper with glue, and sprinkle the eyeshadow over the top. (They usually use chalk, grated through a sieve). Blow away the excess, let it dry, and you have... um... a sparkly picture.

Okay, so it's not Michelangelo, but when I worked at a kindergarten the kids enjoyed it.
