IUI ? and #s

Hi everyone,
We got our new swim team today from Midwest and hoping for our first IUI in the next day or so (we have been doing at home ICI). We ended up with 43.5 million/vial and 70% post thaw motility. Is this good? It's definitely higher than what we had before, but is it in a really good range?

How did you time your IUIs with frozen sperm? How many IUIs did you do per cycle and how many before it worked?

Thank you, everyone. We are hoping for good new around Valentine's Day.

Good luck!

I did six rounds of IUI in total, two of which resulted in pregnancies, one of which "stuck." I have to say that for me, sperm count seemed to make a *big* difference- it was the one thing different about the two months I conceived. Here are the numbers from my various cycles:

#1: 39 million motile, 43% motility, one IUI = BFP! (and then, m/c )
#2: 24 million motile, 39% motility, one ICI, one IUI (bad timing on both) = BFN
#3: 22 million motile, 30% motility, one IUI = BFN
#4: 27 million motile, 29% motility, two IUIs = BFN
#5: 26 million motile, 29% motility, two IUIs = BFN
#6: 58 million motile, 56% motility, two IUIs = BFP!

Note that my bank counts millions by the cc, so each vial of washed sperm, .5cc, has half as many million as listed in the count.

So, to sum up, the common denominator in my pregnant months seemed to be count at or above 39 million, with higher motility as well. My bank said that count (# of millions) is more important than percentage of motility, for what that's worth.

I will say that if I were going to do this over again, I would not waste my time with anything under 40 million, and in fact, would aim for even higher. I feel like I spent a lot of money on tries that didn't work, because I was really attached to those donors, and for me, the higher count really made the difference. In retrospect, I wish I'd saved my $$ and moved straight to the donors with the highest numbers. But, live and learn...

Anyway, your numbers sound great, especially since that's 43 million per VIAL, so good luck!

At my dr's office, they say that any motile count over 5 million is good and that the success rate doesn't increase with higher motile counts (this is the number of good, strong, swimming sperm). I was doubtful after reading everyone here talking about 50+million counts. I had an IUI with a vial (which was just 1/3 of a specimen) thawed to a motile count of 5.42 million. And a BFP...

Well since I got a BFP my first round (very lucky, I know) I'm not sure if it was the #'s or just luck, but here were the numbers for my IUI:
68 million and 63% motility

As for timing I called my RE's office and made an appointment for the day after a positive OPK. The IUI was done at around 9 AM.
