DH's depression/poor sleep

Thread Starter
DH has anxiety/depression, for which he is on medication and receiving counseling. He is doing better, but unfortunately still is not sleeping well. He complains of waking up 5 times during the night. He wakes up and feels tired. I want so badly for him to get several good nights sleep. I think it would really help his depression too and help him to see things more clearly.

Any suggestions on how I can help him sleep better? Meds? Natural remedies?

He's already tried Ambien and Remeron and he doesn't like the results.

we did the Ambien and Remeron too. What did help, but he didn't try it long enough was Valerian Root. Apparently it tastes bad though. (burps)

Otherwise, I used to have a good link of 'successful sleep' tips. Basically creating a routine like you do for kids, and creating a good sleep environment.

If he's taking an antidepressant, he may need a different one. If he doesn't, he may need to. If I'm manic or depressed I can have the same trouble sleeping.

But your right, getting enough sleep will also aid in treating his depression.

I've noticed that when I have to take an Ativan I sleep really damn well. But it's highly addictive.
