leaking where the old threads went through PUL?

i am taking out old elastic in some FBs to replace it with new. I have taken out the casing thread and the previous elastic and am noticing that the holes in the PUL where the original thread went through are quite big and obvious.

Will these holes 'heal' just by washing them in hot, or if i will need to serge the diapers in a bit to cut most of them out?
